The Panthers’ athletic quarterback takes on Detroit’s ridiculous wide receiver for Madden 13 cover glory (and inevitable curse-induced injuries). [ESPN -- thanks PC!]
News and notes from around the world of sports video gaming:
Do little jugs get your attention? No? Well, how about the Song Girls of USC, or the Texas Pom Squad. Or a guy from Michigan staring up the crotch of Paul Bunyan. Trophies and university-specific cheerleaders are part of the coat of polish the NCAA Football 13 gang is applying to this year’s presentation. Details are teased in that video above.
As a hopeless Jets fan and Tebow-fearing human, I was not too pleased at this afternoon’s news that the Denver Broncos have traded divine quarterback Timothy Richard Tebow to the New York Jets. Current starter Mark Sanchez has enough of a media circus on his hands already.
News and notes from around the world of sports video gaming: • Madden‘s play-in round of voting lasts until next Wednesday. Right now, last year’s finalist Michael Vick is losing to teammate LeSean McCoy; two guys (Brandon Lloyd, Brandon Marshall) who won’t be on their teams when the game releases next year, look to advance, and Las Vegas has Victor Cruz (?!) as the fourth favourite to win it all.
When something happens in real life sports, my first instinct is to see if I can replicate it in a video game. It’s partly why they exist, after all. But the New Orleans Saints’ infamous “bounty” system, which paid premiums to players who delivered devastating hits, would seem to be beyond the means of a game like Madden NFL 12.
Back on Super Bowl weekend, I tried to pick the 64-man field — two players from each of the NFL’s 32 teams — who would be vying in EA Sports’ fan-voted playoff for the Madden NFL 13 cover. Half of the picks I made were pulled out my arse. The other half were regrettable for other reasons.
