1:30PM Logan Booker | Comic fans might be interested to know that Madman is running a competition to send two people to Comic Con 2008 in San Diego. All you have to do to enter is type in your specifics, including your name and email address, and then in 25 words or fewer, describe your favourite Adult Swim show and why you like it. I’d love to go just for the Elvis Stormtroopers. Or because my name is Logan, which is the same as Wolverine’s. My dad says chicks dig that stuff, and my magic 8-ball concurs. Disgaea Anime Coming May 14

12:30PM Logan Booker | I was casually flicking through Madman’s latest DVD catalogue when I noticed the company will have the Disgaea anime available from May 14 via its online store. Yes, May is a while away, but a heads-up now is better than none at all. That’s what I’ve been told anyway. The three-disc set will demand $49.95 from your wallet/purse/trust fund, and includes the English trailer, Japanese and music promos and “special talks”, which I’m assuming are interviews of some description. For the purists, there are Japanese and English dubs as well as English subtitles. We’ll be sure to put together a giveaway closer to the release date, so keep an eye (or even two) out for that. Atomic Live 07: The Cosplay

1:50PM Logan Booker | Previous coverage: Atomic Live 07: The Cars Atomic Live 07: The Star Wars Although you’ll find it hard to believe, Novus Ordo did have an ulterior motive for attending Atomic Live 2007. Along with the cars, stands and booth babes (which we’ll get to soon), was a cosplay competition, sponsored by DVD/movie distributor Madman and hosted, in part, by Dr Karl Kruszelnicki. With wookies, storm troopers, anime characters and even Arwen from Lord of the Rings, the comp had an extraordinarily good turnout. Voting was executed using the tried and true “Applause” method. This system culled the group to three – Kitty Nakajima, Stormtrooper Girl and the Wookie. Each competitor received a DVD, while the three winners bagged themselves a luscious DVD pack from Madman.
