Manga with saucy female content is nothing new at all. Ditto for erotic games. But a manga about female erotic game makers making shojo erotic games?

Posted by Owen Good at 9:00 AM on November 2, 2008

Not rock-the-foundations-of-gaming stuff, but Naruto fans might be interested to know that the demo of Naruto: The Broken Bond, is up on Xbox Live. I think Major Nelson forgot to mention this. Anyway, it clocks in at 765 MB and lets you take a peek at the latest installment of the anime action adventure game, which drops Nov. 18 in North America and Nov. 21 in Europe. Fahey took a look at a video and weighed in with his impressions back around E3 timeish.

Live Action Dragon Ball Trailer Successfully Fails

Posted by Mike Fahey at 12:00 PM on October 2, 2008

Someone at the Brand Licensing Expo Europe 2008 managed to catch this cam footage of somewhat less-than-eagerly anticipated film adaptation of the popular manga/anime/video game series Dragon Ball. As was expected, it looks relatively hideous, from Chow Yun-Fat's hideous costume to James Marsters reprising his role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Spike, who in turn tries to portray Lord Piccolo. Don't worry about the sound, there is none in this early preview trailer. Somehow I think we're better for it.

Phoenix Wright and the Case of the Backwards Book

Posted by Brian Crecente at 5:40 AM on September 25, 2008

Recently Ballantine Books sent me a copy of the new Phoenix Wright manga, Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Official Casebook Vol. 1 The Phoenix Wright Files.

The nearly 300-page book is packed with 21 short stories by two dozen artists and writers and wraps up with authors' comments, translation notes and a sneak peek of volume 2.

The book is an enjoyable romp through the strange, flashy-dressing world of OBJECTIONS! and turnabouts. What it isn't is a book that recreates the fun of playing the game. The storylines certainly ring true and the art is a fun collection of different styles, but maybe they should have taken the Choose Your Own Adventure path.

If you're a fan of the game franchise then it's probably worth picking up, but others may find it a bit on the dry side.

Learn About Soul Calibur IV From A Cute Manga

Posted by Brian Ashcraft at 7:00 PM on July 29, 2008

To get everyone ready in Japan for Soul Calibur IV, Namco Bandai released a manga explaining how to play and features like character customisation. Above is the manga as it originally appeared in Japanese. Think of it as an instruction manual you'd actually read. Below, there's a "scanlation" version kindly translated by website Otadesho. Take a look, it amused us.
