There seems to be a propensity amongst game developers working with iconised characters like Mario to see their creations live outside the realm of their natural universes. The latest edition is a familiar one: Mario, but with a tennis racket.
The latest entry in Nintendo’s racket sports franchise will be hitting the 3DS on May 20th, five days before its Japanese counterpart. Nintendo says that there’ll be comprehensive online support for Mario Tennis Open and you can see Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach and more characters volleying in the trailer above.
Upcoming 3DS title, Mario Tennis Open, will be out May 25 in Japan for ¥4800 ($60). It features button and touch controls, as well as up to four player play for online and local multiplayer.
