MC Hammer spent last week in Australia pimping the arrival – tomorrow! – of Twitter and Facebook on Xbox Live. He did countless media appearances, performed at the Xbox Insider event, and even gave a lecture on social media at the University of Technology, Sydney.

MC Hammer once had a house atop a hill off the 680 near Fremont, Calif., and every time I passed it I’d say to myself, “Self, some day I’ll write a Kotaku post about MC Hammer.” That day has come.

MC Hammer, or at least his silhouette anyway, will make an appearance in the achievements for Zombie Apocalypse, the top-down zombie shooter coming to PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. If you “rack up a 100x multiplier in any game mode,” you get “Can’t Touch This.” Because, you know, you’re a big shot. There’s no doubt. Light a fire and pee it out.

Is this licensed? Does Konami, just like the bad guy from Lethal Weapon 2, have diplomatic immunity, so Hammer you can’t sue?

This also reminds me of one of the all-time great WTF dreams a friend told me about. He said he was at the state fair, and MC Hammer had kidnapped Bill Clinton, taking him to the top of a ferris wheel. The crowd gathered around and began yelling – you can guess the punchline – “Please Hammer, don’t hurt him!”

Please, Hammer, Don’t Hurt Bobby Kotick

We definitely know that Activision’s got something MC Hammer related on its 2009 plate. But photo evidence of the Funky Headhunter standing next to CEO Bobby Kotick? 2 legit not 2 post!

Hammer recently Twittered his hopes for “a great 2009 for Bobby Kotick and Activision” and revealed a grainy shot of the two “taken at dinner in NY November 2008″ in what is probably the best CEO standing next to a former rap superstar picture ever.

The question is: What are Hammer and Activision collaborating on? Is it the trademarked but not officially announced Dance Hero? Hammer’s DanceJam endeavor would certainly fit in with such a product, rife with marketing opportunities and YouTube-like uploading fun.

Or is Hammer knowledge sharing with Bobby and company on another Hero game that’s yet to be named? If so, will it have a balloon pants controller?!

Please Hammer, Don’t Hurt Activision

Know that, despite his advancing years, MC Hammer is down with your technology, kids. In particular, he’s all up in this Twitter business, keeping in touch (oh, and leaking potential video game projects).

Posting yesterday, Hammer Twittered:

I got one day to recover ,then it’s LA to Activision to get a glance of a top secrete project on Monday…Cannot wait !!!

Provided he meant secret, and not that Activision are planning on, well, secreting something on top of him (there’s always the chance!), colour us intrigued.

Late-80’s/Early-90’s Rap Hero? With Hammer, Young MC, De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest? Run with this, Activision. We’re interested.
