Keiji Inafune split from Capcom about a year ago, clearly burned out — at one point he said he “hated” his job. However, he still was committed to finishing the 3DS game Mega Man Legends 3, whose cancellation set off a firestorm of anger this summer. Inafune threw more gasoline on the blaze when he suggested that Capcom turned down his offer to finish the game under contract.
In case you couldn’t tell from the lack of serious updates or the departure of the game’s creator, Capcom’s Mega Man Legends 3 has now officially been shitcanned.
Capcom is calling Mega Man Legends 3 for the Nintendo 3DS the first Capcom game to be co-developed by fans. That’s why there’ll be a prototype version of the game available for testing as soon as Nintendo opens up the 3DS eShop.
When Keiji Inafune leaves Capcom, his blog leaves the internet, it seems. Late last week, the famed game producer stated he was leaving Capcom and Capcom subsidiary Daletto. His blog won’t be up for posterity.
Capcom spent the week and a half following Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune’s resignation from the Japanese developer reassigning producers to his games and reorganising the company, Capcom told Kotaku today.
Late last month, Capcom revealed Mega Man Legends 3 for the Nintendo 3DS. The game’s executive producer Keiji Inafune said, “I want it to be good, really good.” Inafune, however, is leaving the project.
