Konami has just announced the third expansion pack for Metal Gear Online, SCENE, which delivers new maps, new gear, and everyone’s favourite reformed bad arse cybernetic ninja to the popular online shooter.
Konami told Metal Gear Online gamers that it’s “taken action” against 113 alleged cheaters. From the tone of the announcement, it sounds like a response to months of complaining of glitching and other abuses.
Konami’s keeping the legion of
Starting Christmas, model Akina Minami will be appearing in Metal Gear Online. Rather, her image will appear in an in-game pin-up mag.
Konami’s Metal Gear Online has gotten itself all patched up. Things have changed, and things have been fixed. According to Konami, the patch updates include:
There isn’t much of “later this year” left, so it’s about time Konami gave us a solid date on the upcoming second expansion for Metal Gear Solid Online. The Meme expansion, first announced last month, should be available for download next week. November 25th to be exact, which places the release on a Tuesday.
The Meme expansion of course adds three new maps to Metal Gear Online, along with two new characters; Revolver Ocelot and the lovely Mei Ling, who has the means to transfix enemies by strutting her stuff.
Over the weekend, I stayed at home at waited for the baby to fall out of my wife. (It didn’t, but rather, hung around in her womb and listened to my Prince albums.) On Saturday and Sunday, Osaka played host to the Games Japan Festa 2008. (Like I said, I was at home, with the wife, Prince records and a catcher’s mitt.) The event is nowhere near the size of TGS, but Famitsu was there, reporting long lines for Metal Gear Online: Meme Expansion. The wait reached 90 minutes — compare that to the brisk 15-20 minute lines for The Last Remnant.
Rocky start now behind itself, Metal Gear Online has gone on to boast one million members worldwide. Impressive! The game kicked off this past June, and to celebrate this milestone Konami is launching “Metal Gear Online: Commemorative Campaign” on November 25. It will wrap up on December 9. Participating players will be awarded with 10,000 points on the closing day, and there will be a lottery to win an extra 100,000 points as well.
Konami has announced a second expansion pack for Metal Gear Online. The pack, titled MEME Expansion, provides new content in the form of maps characters, skills, tournament lobby, and more. While no official release date or price was given, Konami says you can expect this to be available for download “later this year.” Are any of you actually still playing this? Full release with pictures after the jump!
Metal Gear Online sure hasn’t gone as smoothly as Konami (or anyone else for that matter) had hoped. And it’s even worse if you live in one of the countries on Konami’s list. Kotaku reader Nasser explains:
I am a Metal Gear solid diehard fan & was so happy to play MGO… I’d tried to purchase the gene expansion of Metal Gear Online but first…the server was ‘down’ (as usual)…then when they ‘fixed’ it…u can only purchase the expansion from only selected countries…I live in the Middle-east, & they don’t except any online credit purchase in their site from my country…
I tried to create an American Konami ID use so I can purchase the expansion…and…doesn’t work… I tried to contact Konami for help.. But I couldn’t find any. I mean… why can’t they just put it on the PSN… it’s much easier & we will not face any server issues like we usually see in on MGO servers
After Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 Online disaster on the PS3… And these MGO problems… I began to believe that Konami sucks when it comes to online play. So guys… if there any way to purchase the gene expansion… any trick any thing… please… tell me…I am so desperate
Apparently, there are thirty countries that Konami will not accept credit card purchases from. Hit the jump for those:
