I don’t know about you, but Metal Gear Solid 3 is probably one of my favourite games of the last decade, and definitely my favourite of the series. So when Hideo Kojima claims that one of his first ideas for Metal Gear Solid 5 involved the antagonist from MGS3 ‘The Boss’ and the Normandy invasion, I was sort of hoping the rest of the team just stopped coming up with new ideas and said: ‘great idea Hide, let’s just go and make that one now’.
The cries of “Metal Gear Solid 5 confirmed!” that rang out across the internet last week were silenced today, as the Official PlayStation Magazine reveals what exactly legendary developer Hideo Kojima said regarding a potential sequel in its latest issue. Should you be excited? Probably, at some point.
Hideo Kojima said that he might want to do something other than Metal Gear. He even enlisted the help of Kotaku readers to get him out of Solid Snake’s shadow. But, instead, he’s going to be doing more even more Tactical Espionage Action.
Metal Gear Solid 5 isn’t the only thing sitting out this year’s E3, the stealth series’ creator Hideo Kojima also won’t be at E3. Last year, there was a flurry of MGS news at E3. This year? Probably not. [@hideo_kojima]
In a press release Q&A issued by Konami today, Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima stresses the importance of the PSP installment of the Metal Gear Solid series, calling it, “a MGS5-class game.”
Metal Gear makers Kojima Productions are just hours away from revealing… something, as the developer’s teaser page countdown clock is set to expire. Who knows what Kojima and crew are planning? Famitsu might know.
