Qore Customers Get MotorStorm 2 Demo A Month Early

This won’t go down well with the Qore-hating brigade. Especially if you’re also a MotorStorm fan. It’s been revealed that as part of the upcoming fourth episode of Sony’s paid-for PS3 “editorial” program, both annual subscribers and individual purchasers of the episode will be given access to the MotorStorm 2 demo a month before anyone else. If you were ever worried that Qore would be Sony’s way of easing the PSN into a premium service divide like that which separates Xbox Live, now’s the time to start worrying a little more.

Three Minutes Of MotorStorm 2

Motorstorm? Loved it. Probably loved it more than you did, as I played through the entire thing, sticking up for it during the public picking apart of it’s graphical promise. “It doesn’t look like that E3 2005 footage!” they said. “La la la! I can’t hear you! Vrrooom!!” I said. Motorstorm 2? I’m concerned. I keep looking at that ever present “pre-alpha 40% complete” reminder, but, man, does that water look less interactive than I’d hoped—even though the cooling properties are nifty. Still, monster trucks! And that lens flare? Just like the real thing. Whaddya think?

MotorStorm 2 Does Not Feature Elvis

MotorStorm dev Evolution was acquired by Sony. Have things changed after going from indie to corporate monolith? Says Evolution’s Paul Hollywood:

There is commercial pressure from Sony who want us to create a viable business product but we’re more after the critical acclaim. I think there’s less pressure now because when we were an independent developer we had the pressure of paying the wages every month. Now we don’t have to worry about the next game or what we’re going to be doing.

That’s right, you’re doing MotorStorm 2, and we’re pretty sure it’ll do fairly well. So, yeah, everything’s coming up Evolution! About that sequel, which was inspired by Hawaii’s beautiful island setting, Hollywood points out that the game has “no hula” and “no Elvis.” No Elvis? Wha?! Two words: “Big” and “mistake.” MotorStorm 2 Interview [Next-Gen]

Motorstorm 2 Gets Named, Detailed

Following a fresh batch of screens this morning, more Motorstorm 2 details are emerging from the Sony PlayStation Day in London, where Sony’s Paul Hollywood was on hand to deliver the goods on the new title. Now called Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, the entire game takes place on a tropical island, complete with waterfalls, volcanoes, and vegetation that will hinder smaller vehicles while the large ones crush it beneath their wheels. The game will double the number of tracks from the first game, bringing the number to a much more respectable 16. You’ll be able to drive through streams to cool your engine, adding a bit of strategy to the mix, while the addition of monster trucks to the franchise will certainly cause problems for those who prefer the lightweight, crushable motorbikes. On the multiplayer side of things, the game will support split screen as well as 16-player online races. See the nifty things you can accomplish when your game isn’t rushed out the door?

Lush New Motorstorm 2 Screens Emerge

The UK’s PSW Magazine has a slew of gorgeous new screenshots of the highly anticipated follow-up to last year’s PlayStation 3 racer Motorstorm, which show off just how far the developers have come since those first stumbling steps on the PS3. The new island local looks suitably tropical, the characters have a great deal more character, and overall the environments look like they’d be a joy to tear up. Hit up the link for the full gallery. Motorstorm 2: The CG Trailer

newVideoPlayer("motorstorm_2.flv", 475, 376,""); Evolution Studios is setting themselves up for some serious nitpickery with their next MotorStorm, spitting out a pre-rendered trailer that we suppose should be considered a “target render”. Regardless of the delivery, as a MotorStorm fan, it’s still very exciting stuff. Monster trucks, destructible environments, chesty motorcycle riders wearing low-cut leather get ups getting crushed by giant tires—pretty much everything on our checklist.

MotorStorm 2: It’s Official

Sony Computer Entertainment and Evolution Studios have made official what we’ve known for a few weeks now—MotorStorm 2 is coming, bringing monster trucks and four player split-screen action with it. The PlayStation 3 racer is indeed moving from arid Monument Valley to a lush Pacific island, an island apparently known for its remote location and 16 “diverse multi-route tracks”.

Instead of mud, rocks, dust and the occasional cliff, MotorStorm 2 will feature natural hazards like “tangled undergrowth, swift flowing rivers, choking volcanic clouds and searing lava pools.” Sounds just fantastic. The official release on the matter talks up an Autumn release, arriving with a “host of game modes and rewards”. Now about those vehicle loading times…
