Make A Run For El Baño With Taco Bell And My Sims

Electronic Arts and Yum! Brands are thick as thieves. Last year we had some kind of Kentucky Madden Super Fried Smack Pack meal; this year, sibling fast food hut Taco Bell is handing out free discs for the Sims’ Wii franchise.

Sim-splosion – EA Showcase 08

For a long time, it seemed like all EA made were Sims games and sports games. So it was surprising to see all three Sims titles confined to one corner of the showroom – but it made it easier for me to cover them all in one fell swoop.

First up was My Sims because I got it confused with My Sims Kingdom. My Sims is already out on Wii but the upcoming PC release introduces new community features (like shared Gardens where you can hang out) and six new character NPCs that sort of (but not really) tie into My Sims Kingdom. My Sims on PC looked to be more user-friendly for the builders among you than it was on Wii (or maybe I say that because I’m a klutz with the Wii Remote) and I noticed that the terrain now has different elevations. Terraced garden, here I come.

MySims Coming to the PC, EA Children Haunt us in Trailer

If you didn’t get to pick up MySims for the Wii your in luck because it is coming to the PC. In the game you will get to create original characters, build towns, and grow a community. Expect it to hit stores in October.

Oh, and as an added bonus the trailer features the same creepy children from the SimCity Creator trailer we posted last week.

EA Signs Up Talent Agency To Bring Franchises To Movies, TV

The United Talent Agency and Electronic Arts have announced an agreement to help bring internally developed EA franchises to other entertainment media, including movies, animation, comic books and television. UTA, EA’s “partner in crime”, will represent the developer-publisher as it moves its IP into the “realm of large-budget motion pictures and television series”. Let’s hope that doesn’t mean Madden: The Movie.

The EA-UTA deal is said to “significantly ramp up EA’s film and television slate” which currently consists of a “feature version” of The Sims, a MySims animated series and a Dead Space animated, direct-to-DVD feature. In other words, pretend to be surprised when the Army Of Two movie script leaks later this year.

Hit the jump for the full press release. We’ll have additional details on all of EA’s Comic-Con related announcements through the week.

Each of the creations are meant to capture the “self expression, customisation, creativity and collectiability” of the My Sims world with 100 percent of the profits going to the Great Ormond Street children’s hospital.

The items range from a Wii bag to a really neat T-shirt with a build in pouch to carry your DS around in.

Week in Games: Eternal Sonata Edition

There’s a little something for everyone this week from the gorgeous Eternal Sonata and the uber cute MySims to the gritty World In Conflict and action-packed Stranglehold. As I will be spending the next two weeks abroad I won’t be playing much of anything until I return but Eternal Sonata is definitely my pick for this week. Anything you’ll be picking up?

MySims Trailer Rots Teeth

It’s all so…coldly calculating. There’s the little green diamond and soothing sky-blue background from Will Wright’s version, but it’s been thrown in a Japanification device and spat out looking like this. Will either be complete rubbish or will sell a billion copies. Maybe both.
