The Energizer Lithium Extender Pack offers two new cars (the Plymouth Road Runner and the SEAT Leon Cupra) and two new tracks (Leipzig Test Track and Tokyo Expressway). The Extender Pack also give you access to purchase 14 other new cars, including two of my favorites, the Bugatti Veyron and the Aston Martin DBR9. I can’t help but succumb to daydreams of being an international spy when I hear the name “Aston Martin.”

If that’s not enough Need for Speed ProStreet for you, EA has also announced Energizer’s Community Race Weekend, starting February 22. PS3 and Xbox 360 racers can compete for prizes and bragging rights, once they’re registered at the official Race Day page.

At CES, Samsung is showing off the “World’s First 3D Ready Plasma TV” complete with three-dimensional versions of Madden NFL 08 and Need For Speed ProStreet. After watching another CES attendee take the Samsung—and its required 3D goggles—for a spin, seemingly walking away unimpressed, I decided to take the wheel. After picking my Volkswagen GT and hitting the track, the goggle shutters kicked in, going into full 3D mode.

Unfortunately, the experience of driving in 3D on a plasma television with oversized glasses fails to impress. Samsung claims that with the tech, “you can feel you are in the game” the only feeling I got was one of nausea. The constant flicker and ghosting of your ride doesn’t do much for the sensation of depth. It’s hard to imagine the product being anything more than a novelty or lending itself to long gaming sessions.. but it’s perfect for a five minute distraction at CES!

I thought their only fault was not having one of the girls holding a pizza and some beer, thus completing the holy trinity of testosteronic power. It turns out the whole thing was just some sort of fluke.

“We regret that these images slipped through the proper EA approval process,” said a spokesperson for the publisher, speaking to GamesIndustry.biz. “They were not appropriate for our brand. The original site has been taken down this morning.”

Hopefully they will be replaced with naked brunettes, who would lend a much more intelligent-yet-mysterious air to the advertisements, which I feel would be completely appropriate for their brand.

The promotion, featuring Page 3 girls Amii and Becky, explores what happens with four breasts are positioned within posing distance of a red Ferrari. We’re still studying the results here at the Kotaku Media Labs, but at first blush, it seems that EA may have something here. We applaud them for being brave enough to think outside the box, looking forward to more bold endeavours from those responsible for this important Need For Speed ProStreet promo.

It should go without saying that this is 100% not safe for work. Observe scientifically only when off the clock, as some folks just aren’t ready for something this progressive.

The GHII demo is a modest 545MB while the racer clocks in at 655MB. I’m currently downloading both, so if I any of my posts show up later on with missing images or spelling errors, you can blame one or both of them. Also live today is the European demo for Eternal Sonata, easily the prettiest RPG on the Xbox 360, and the best video game Chopin learning tool in the history of the gaming.

Timeshift, Naruto, Virtua Fighter 5 for the 360, Hellgate: London, the Simpsons game and of course Barbie Island Princess for the Wii. Now we can add another USD$30-$60 to our Halloween budget as EA announces Need For Speed ProStreet is dropping on the hellish holiday as well. In classic NFS fashion it is coming out on just about every system imaginable, with the PSP being the only notable absence from the list. Yes friends, that time of year is rapidly approaching, when the games we want begin to outweigh the cash on hand. The holidays are so depressing.
In Need for Speed ProStreet, you have to build the ultimate battle machine, take it to multi-disciplinary showdowns and pit your skills and reputation against the world’s best street racers. This is your chance to prove that you have what it takes to be crowned the next street king.

“The Need for Speed franchise has always been on the cutting edge of car culture,” said Executive Producer, Larry LaPierre. “Street racing is getting more organised and Need for Speed ProStreet is our interpretation of where we anticipate the culture to be in three to five years. We’re delivering on the ultimate proving ground, bringing you out of your neighbourhood back alleys and on to the world stage. This is a next-gen game, packed with the raw intensity and visceral aggression that defines street racing at the highest level.”

Need for Speed ProStreet is a racing experience like no other. For the first time, you’re designing and building a car, competing in iconic locations from around the globe and battling in four distinct racing styles- grip, drag, drift and the all-new speed challenge. The atmosphere is electric – complete with energetic crowds, photo-realistic vehicles and billowing smoke – all designed to embody the pressure and intensity of the gladiatorial challenge known as Show Down. Need for Speed ProStreet is the realisation of the power, aggression and rivalry that embodies street racing culture.

Need for Speed ProStreet will be available for Xbox 360™ video game and entertainment system, PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and Wii™ as well as the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo DS™, PC and mobile.
