Ammon Jerro & Baldur: Separated At Birth?

Australian Post Posted by Logan Booker at 2:30 PM on August 20, 2008

ammon_too.jpgNWN 2's Ammon is on the left, while Too Human's Baldur is on the right. Do they look alike? Yes, but not crazily so (for one, Ammon has facial hair). I just hope bald guys with glowing face tattoos do not become standard elements in role-playing games to come. If they do, well, the trend was spotted here.

Not that I'm concerned - I usually play as female characters. I'm not weird, honest, I just think they look better.

Atari: Witchers, RPGs, Cooks, and ... Deer Hunters

Posted by Maggie Greene at 6:00 AM on July 18, 2008

3:55 PM, the LA Convention Centre. Everyone is tired, and you can see the media room starting to slow down — people wander by with exhausted expressions on their faces, looking at their watches and lighting up when they realise there's not much left in the day. Even Crecente has passed the point of being totally with it, pausing in the middle of sentences to stare off into space. I shuffle off to check out Atari's E3 offerings, and am met with a surprisingly cheerful staff who point me in the direction of caffeine. I am not caffeinated enough to face a spiel on Deer Hunter Tournament, so I'm sat down to await a demonstration of The Witcher: Enhanced Edition. I hear something about transport options from the person enthusiastically imbibing what the Deer Hunter guy is saying — 'Oh cool, so you're planning on having like, ATVs and stuff?' — and am glad I'm parked in front of The Witcher instead of one screen over. More impressions and details after the jump:

Neverwinter Nights 2: A Few Good Mods

Australian Post Posted by Logan Booker at 3:00 PM on December 12, 2007

nwn2_ps_small.jpgWith the news that Obsidian has released a new patch for its D&D-based RPG, I thought it might be an idea to let you guys know which mods I use to enhance the game.

I'm a firm believer in using mods only to make the game better, or fix bugs that the developer is unwilling or unable to do something about. If you're looking for mods to help you cheat, or deliver unto your character a +10 Sword of Holy Butt Whopping, you won't find it here.

I only have two recommendations, but they're excellent ones. Details after the jump.

Neverwinter Nights 2 Upgrades To 1.11

Australian Post Posted by Logan Booker at 10:00 AM on December 12, 2007

nwn2_wide.jpgIf you own Obsidian Entertainment's crack at the Forgotten Realms universe and D&D 3.5 Edition, then you'll be pleased to know that the developer has today released a new patch for the game, bringing it to version 1.11.

Community manager Rob McGinnis dumped a chunky list of bug fixes and updates on the official NWN2 message board.

I had to smirk at the following bug:

* The conversation with Shelvedar will no longer drop if the player is female.
First case of a game engine being unintentionally sexist? Probably not.

I'm currently enjoying Mask of the Betrayer, and despite the utter crappiness of the Pale Master prestige class (undead are cool, yeah), I don't have any real complaints. Except that the game is not never-ending.

Full patch notes can be found after the jump.

1.11 Game Update Available [NWN2 forums, via Blue's News]

Neverwinter Nights 2 Expands Into Westgate

Posted by Mike Fahey at 2:20 AM on October 23, 2007

nightmasks.jpgAtari and Obsidian Entertainment may have just recently released Neverwinter Nights 2: Mask of the Betrayer, but they aren't sitting around throwing pizza parties and patting each other on the back. No, they are busy readying the first downloadable adventure pack for the game, Mysteries of Westgate. Taking place in the Forgotten Realms city of Westgate, the adventure pack launches players into a clash between warring city-factions as they attempt to relieve themselves of a cursed item that could destroy them. The pack features the Night Masks, a league of assassins first encountered in book 3 of R. A. Salvatore's Cleric Quintet entitled, aptly enough, Night Masks. Promising over 15 hours of new gameplay, 3 new companions, and an entirely new musical score, Mysteries of Westgate is the beginning of the natural evolution of the first NWN's premium module program. The pack should go on sale via Atari sometime this fall.
