Nintendo World Store Hosts Mystery Party

12:20AM Mike Fahey | New Yorkers get all the fun Nintendo stuff, don’t they? Case in point, this Saturday the Nintendo World Store in Rockefeller Plaza is hosting a pre-release party for Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir for the Nintendo DS, developed by Griptonite Games for Big Fish. Children of all ages are invited to hunt for clues, search for hidden objects, and interact with live performers as they attempt to solve the disappearance of millionaire Phil T. Rich – Filthy Rich for those of us fluent in bad pun. There’ll be food, drinks, prizes, and a chance to purchase the game two days earlier than everyone else, which I suppose is a reward for participating in the interactive sales pitch event. The mystery party runs from noon until 2pm Saturday, after which parents can pretty much leave their children to wander about the Nintendo World Store unattended while they go grab a latte. More »

Mario Kart Wii Launch Starring Jason Priestley

3:40AM Brian Crecente | Jason Priestley, who Nintendo was kind enough to remind us is an actor, hit up this weekend’s launch of Mario Kart Wii at the Nintendo World store in New York. While there he took on fellow actor Chace Crawford of Gossip Girl fame in a bit of Mario Karting. If that fat cat smile and double chin is any measure it looks like Priestley totally schooled the kid. With a wheel too! More »

Nintendo’s Official Mario Kart US Launch Event

8:30AM Mike Fahey | Oh yeah, there’s another game launching at the end of this month! Sure, GTA IV overwhelming, but we’re just as excited for the imminent release of Mario Kart Wii the Sunday after next, and so is Nintendo. They’re getting ready to party on the afternoon of the 26th at the Nintendo World store in Rockefeller Plaza. Fans will be able to get their hands on the game early, compete in competitions for fabulous prizes, and participate in giveaways and premiums, such as personalised Mario Kart driver’s licenses. I want one! Unfortunately I will be fast asleep in Atlanta when all of this is going on, but I’m not above paying off someone who looks exactly like me to stand in line. Festivities run from 2PM to 6PM, with the game going on sale the following day. No midnight release? Teases. Still, you’ll have plenty of time to make it to somewhere that is once the event ends. Happy Karting! More »
