Ozzy Osbourne makes his Rock Band debut next week, a before his first album in three years releases. Three tracks from Osbourne’s Scream join three classics for a total of 6, because that’s 1/111th of the Number of the Beast.
The Prince of Darkness, and World of Warcraft spokesman, Ozzy Osbourne will be headlining the closing concert at this year’s BlizzCon, Activision announced today.
Activision are intent on luring as many “big name” rock stars to the Guitar Hero brand as possible. Ozzy Osbourne, failing mind aside, is a big name rock star, and a Guitar Hero veteran to boot, providing perhaps the series’ finest moment with Bark At The Moon. So it should be little surprise to hear that the ex-Sabbath frontman has been signed to appear in the upcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour, alongside long-time guitarist Zakk Wylde, where they’ll be playing Crazy Train and Mr. Crowley in a recreation of an Ozzfest venue. Which is all well and good, but really, it’s no Bark At The Moon.

VH1′s Harold Goldberg was there when Ozzy Osbourne popped into Times Square’s Hard Rock Cafe to shill for Electronic Arts Madden 08. Goldberg even got a second or two with the rapidly-aging rock star, probably just a second. “When my son Jack was living with us and he would disappear for 15 hours, I’d think, ‘Where can he be now?’ I used to find him in his room concentrating on the screen. (Makes a face of grim determination.) I mean, he’s an expert at this stuff. I ain’t got a clue about it. But it’s fun to watch him. He’s got it down, Jack.”
