There’s a wonderful interview at Gamasutra with Hiroyuki Kotani, creator of Patapon — a game that I still adore, having snuck in quite a lot of time with it on my PSP.
Still waiting on those LocoRoco plushies, Sony. But hey, in the meantime, these will just have to do. By Medicom, these Patapon plushies will be out soon, and will set you back around $US40.
Rhetorical question. We don’t really care whether you can or can’t. That’s your business. We only care about Patapons and petting in the context of game art done in the style of Dr. Seuss. Like this piece, by Rebecca Clements. Which, after a hard day’s internetting, was enough to put smiles on our mean, tired faces.
Sony Computer Entertainment announced two new entries in its “the Best” series: Patapon for PSP the Best and Oblivion for PLAYSTATION 3 the Best. Patapon is out September 25th for ¥2,8000 ($US 26) and Oblivion is out September 4th for ¥3,800 ($US 35). Wonder if you can get them cheaper used…
People liked Patapon so much that Sony Computer Entertainment Japan went and decided to put out another. That’s right, this summer Japan will see Patapon 2. While the previous title was single player, the sequel will feature four player multi-player mode as well as new characters. PON-PON-PATA-PON!
Hit the jump for another look at Patapon 2.
Whew! Our Patapon contest is so over. We didn’t plan for this one to be tricky, we wanted it to be easy! But, apparently, we are tricky bastards. A buncha entries we got only answered one question — the first one. Not much of a scavenger hunt if there’s only one question, don’t cha think? Reading comprehension is so important. Too bad more folks didn’t read the Totoro post! What’s more, too bad some people gave SEVERAL ANSWERS to number seven. The four folks who hit all the high notes and got everything right are: nolifedopestar, Paul M., Pat O., sander_dutch
Hit the jump for the right answers and the bitter hate. Mmmmm, hate. Delicious!
LocoRoco had massive amounts of hype, but fell flat during a time when the PSP needed another Lumines. But the developers of LocoRoco are back with a new title called Patapon, a mix of rhythm game, RPG and RTS that’s even more beautiful than its predecessor.
Patapon releases next week and having had the privilege of checking it out over the last couple of days, I can tell you it’s a really great game. The art style alone is enough to send an artsy guy like me into the stratosphere. If you haven’t yet checked out any of the media surrounding this games, be sure to check out this trailer to see what you’ve been missing. Loco-Roco fans will take to this like a second coming. Great stuff.
Artist Rolito, the man behind the stylish graphics of Patapon has produced this vinyl toy based on the upcoming PSP game. The toy, which is part of the custom BearBrick series, will be available in stores on Feb. 26th. There’s no word on the price, but given the size and what I’ve seen of other BearBrick prices it should be around $US 5.99 or so. But, don’t quote me on that.
Never fear, loners of the world. If your heart’s gentle song goes unheard on Valentine’s Day, you can always turn your affections towards free electronic entertainment. Like the Patapon demo, which will be out tomorrow. And not just out on the slightly-annoying PC-PSP store, but the PS3 one as well (just for downloading purposes, you can’t play it on your PS3), which should make things a little easier for you.
