Sega Still Says Phantasy Star Online 2 Is ‘Delayed’

Yesterday, we received an email from Kotaku reader Jacob. He said he was bummed out. See, he really wants to play Phantasy Star Online 2, the free-to-play online RPG that was released in Japan last year. But he can’t because it’s not out in the West, and publisher Sega hasn’t told anyone what’s going on.

Phantasy Star Online 2 For The Vita Is As Good As The PC Version

Back before the release of Phantasy Star Online 2 on the PC, one of its main selling points was that it would eventually be released on the PlayStation Vita as well. Now, nearly a year after the game’s PC launch, this has finally come to pass. And while the Vita version of the game remains largely identical, it is the little changes that make it enjoyable on Sony’s pint-sized system.

Developers Of These Free Games Aren’t Looking For Quick, Easy Cash

Free to play. Free. To. Play. Sounds good, but watch the fine print. With most games these days, when something is free, you tend to get what you pay for. Generally, you’ll end up getting a fraction of the actual game with the rest being either unattainable or incredibly hard to get to without pulling out your credit card, or you’ll be bombarded with messages asking you to fork over some cash in order to get rid of the messages asking you to fork over some cash.

This Video Game Bug Is Truly Terrifying

Ack! With this new horrifying glitch, Phantasy Star Online 2 has discovered a new level of hell. Character skin can accidentally change… for the worse. The much, much worse.

The Most Amazing Place To Play Phantasy Star Online 2 In Japan

Phantasy Star Online 2′s Character Creator Brings Sci-Fi Anime Characters To Life

Like most MMOs, Phantasy Star Online 2 comes with a robust character creator. And with its sci-fi setting, it’s perfect for making all sorts of futuristic characters. I, for one, made Kotaku’s very own anthropomorphic avatar, Kotaku-tan, as my character.

Phantasy Star Online 2 Is Fun, Frantic And Free-To-Play

These days the net is overflowing with free-to-play MMORPGs. But even before free-to-play MMORPGs were a thing, there was Phantasy Star Online. This online-RPG graced consoles and PCs alike in the early 2000s and proved to be the most popular game of its kind in Japan (until Final Fantasy XI hit stores in 2002). Now, over a decade later, Sega has brought out a full blown sequel in Phantasy Star Online 2. But does this sequel have the magic of the original or is it just another forgettable free-to-play MMO?

If You’re Going To Make A Game Free-To-Play, At Least Let People Play It

Over the past few weeks, Kotaku has taken a look at several of Japan’s newest free-to-play titles. First was Mobile Suit Gundam Battle Operation, a PS3 third-person shooter that was based around a 6v6 game of capture the points.
