Steve Fawkner’s Mum Has Finished Puzzle Quest… Six Times

Kotaku AU

Ah Steve Fawkner. You sexy man, you. Even his mother thinks him and his games are a bit of alright. Scratch that, she bloody loves them, according to a podcast over at PALGN:

She’s like the most hardcore Puzzle Quest player you’ve ever meet. She’s finished it six times now, [been through]the expansion pack twice with four different characters – one of them she completely maxed out to level 50 and unlocked everything in the game.

When your mum gives you a pat on the shoulder and says “that’s nice dear” she’s being polite. But this? Yeah Steve, your mum is addicted.

Ben Judd Can Relate with Remake Rage

It’s hard remaking things. Not because the source material is so great, but because people’s memories of that original source material is so strong. Take Bionic Commando, for example. When the main character’s design was unveiled, people freaked out! He had dreads and hots dogs in his mechanical arm. Capcom Producer Ben Judd knows exactly what it’s like to behind a remake of an original game everyone knows and loves. He also like giant robots fighting, so he cam sympathise somewhat.

Bionic Commando Casts A Pod

Kotaku AU

Activision just sent us word that the first developer podcast for Capcom’s Bionic Commando is up over at the official site.

Producer Ben Judd does the honours for the inaugural chat, where he talks about the following:

His memories of the original Bionic CommandoHow Ben Judd got started at Capcom Japan and how he became a producerWhy bring back the Bionic Commando franchiseThe advantages and disadvantages of bringing back old franchises in games and movies, and the challenges thereinWhether games are art or not, and if they can make you cryAbout designing and creating the new BC game, and the cultural conflicts in that

It, literally, sounds like a corker of a podcast. And to think it’s just one of many more to come.

Also note that there’s a suggestions/comments box at the link below, where you can submit your ideas for the next podcast.

They’d been quiet for so long we thought they’d gone. Gone and crashed into the side of a mountain. Eaten alive by a pack of hungry Argentinian footballers. But no! They were just on a between-seasons break. And now OneLifeLeft, Britain’s (Europe’s? The world’s?) most bearable gaming podcast, is back. Good times are back in style.
