Pumpkin Roundup!!!

BREAKING: Kotaku readers are the greatest pumpkin carvers in the entire world. We don’t know if it’s something in the writing or those pills we’ve been slipping in your food, but seriously, we are blown away by your incredible talent we’ve seen since we quasi-intentionally called you to arms.

As you can see, my wife and I didn’t even attempt gaming pumpkins after seeing your brilliance, but hit the jump for a complete list of our exclusive gaming pumpkin coverage.

Day Of The Pumpkin!

So. It’s actually Halloween now. Time to celebrate by busting out the truly special pumpkins. Not special as in “damn, this is a fine piece of pumpkin crafting” (though this is still great!), but special as in “thank you, someone thought to carve a Day of the Tentacle Pumpkin”. No, really. Thank you, Nert.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Happy Halloween, everyone! That celebrates it, that is. We don’t down here, but hey, it’s hard to avoid getting into the spirit of things. As a Halloween treat, then, we present this, the centrepiece of our magnificent pre-Halloween pumpkin extravaganza: Andy’s Zelda pumpkins. We could have just posted the pics, but hey, this day’s all about scary things. So watch the vid instead.

Pac-Man, Dots and Clyde

Pumpkins galore, Halloween has started! Reader Ben provides us with not one, but four (count ‘em) pumpkins: Pac-Man, two pellets and Clyde (well, it is an orange ghost). He writes:

They were carved with love for all games old school.

Is that a marshmallow on a tooth pic for Pac-Man’s eye? If not, let’s pretend it is.

Sonic-o’-lantern

The glowing orb speaks of itself. Let’s hear what its creator —___–__-_ – has to say:

i gotta say, seeing mario, zelda, master chief, toadstool, amaterasu from okami and others’ likeness carved into big orange vegetables, I had to make a pumpkin creation with sonic’s mug on it, mind you this is the sonic of old side scrolling style, not the abhoration of new school iterations, anyhow, thanks for making me excited about halloween again

That’s what we do, make people Halloween kurazy. This isn’t nearly as scary as the thought of Sonic losing to Mario in that Wii Olympics game. Thanks for the delightful pumpkin! We hope the folks at UK:R totally steal this amazing Sonic related non-news.

Okami Pumpkin Extravaganza Blows Our Socks Into Halloween 2008

Above, what could well be pumpkin of the year. Yes, the fact it’s Okami helps, but the shading, the pose, oh, it’s all so delightful. On any day of the week, this alone would be enough to win our hearts. Today, though, is not any day of the week. Today, Kotakuite Fatkraken went that extra mile.

We’re so far beyond turned on it’s a little scary.

Pumpkins Go Next-Gen

Carvings? Candles? Natural light? Quaint, certainly, but also soooo last-gen. Halloween 2007, it’s all about an LED array cycling through the 8-bit colour rainbow. Because the future is now.
