At the 1998 NBA All-Star Game, fans received discs with the demo for a PlayStation game called NBA 2-Ball. The game was pretty bad – possibly defective – but it’s extremely rare. So a surviving copy may be extremely valuable.
The title of “Holy Grail of Video Games” changes almost monthly, or whenever an extremely rare specimen hits eBay. The latest claimant: a weird-shaped Atari 2600 cart by the name of Air Raid.
There is a Holy Grail of Rare Video Games, and it is Stadium Events. The auction on a factory-sealed NTSC version closed just minutes ago, and it was sold for $US41,300, almost double the old record.
A mum in North Carolina listed an NES and five carts on eBay last week for $US9.99. Final winning bid: $US13,105. One of the games in the lot happened to be the ultra-rare Stadium Events, in its original box.
