ratchet & clank future: quest for booty

Ratchet & Clank: To be Continued in 2009

9:00AM Owen Good | 1Up’s played Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty (drops next week on the PlayStation Network) all the way to the end, and got the above teaser screen. Insomniac has said nothing, but it’s doubtful they’d tease anything other than a full retail release this far out. 1Up notes that it looks like Insomniac will be switching between Resistance and Ratchet titles every other year which is definitely pulling its weight for the PS3. Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest For Booty a Chunky Standalone Game

7:00AM Brian Crecente | Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest for Booty hits next week when the nearly 2.4GB downloadable game hits the Playstation Network. Quest for Booty will take about four hours to play through, we’re told, and doesn’t require that you own the retail game Ratchet & Clank Future, although it does continue the storyline. The game will include new wrench mechanics, light and dark illumination and pirate-themed puzzles. The game will also include four locations: Planet Merdegraw: Pirate Fleet, Hoolefar Island, Morrow Caverns and Darkwater Cove and a bunch of pirate enemies including Skull Walkers, Hot Heads, Giant Vipers (Pythors) and Undead Robotic Pirates. I’m not sure what to make of this stand-alone download for $US 15, but it’s an interesting way to release a smallish game and I kind of like the idea that they’re not forcing gamers to go buy the original title to play it. Ratchet & Clank’s Quest For Booty Dated

12:40AM Mike Fahey | Ratchet & Clank Future: Quest For Booty is a $US 14.99 chunk of R&C goodness announced at E3 that picks up where the PlayStation 3’s Tools of Destruction left off. It’s got Ratchet hunting for his missing mechanoid pal, exciting new game mechanics to screw around with, and enough pirates to keep your booty moving for 3-4 hours. At $US 14.99 the game is a steal, but when can we steal it? August 21st, says the official PlayStation Blog, with Europe and North America getting the game simultaneously and Japan getting it on the 22nd, which could technically be the 21st for them anyway. Damn Japanese people, living in the future. Set Course for Booty this August [PlayStation Blog] More »
