Here's Your Red Alert 3 Collectors Edition

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 5:30 PM on August 11, 2008

Never ones to shy away from a chance to earn an extra buck or two, EA have announced they'll be releasing a "Premier Edition" of upcoming RTS Red Alert 3. Exclusive (at least in Europe) to GAME, the premium box will see the game packed in a metal tin, along with five exclusive MP/skirmish maps, a DVD with a making-of featurette (along with the sure-to-be-tasteful special "Women of Red Alert 3"), a soundtrack and, curiously, an "Exclusive Beta Key to a future C&C game!" Exclamation is theirs, not ours. The only C&C game we can think of on the horizon is Tiberium, but with that not due for a while, be sure to keep that beta key somewhere you won't forget about it.

Red Alert 3 Art Team Gets A Gold Star

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 8:30 PM on July 21, 2008

Why? For some recent work they've done on the OTT WW3 RTS. First, and above, the game's box art, which could well be box art of the year. Note, developers: the world needs more Soviet women in leather hotpants, tesla mechs and armoured fighting bears. After the jump, one more thing the world needs more of: elite Japanese schoolgirl psionic commandos.

Fear Not, Red Alert 3's Full Of Hammy Cinematics

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 1:20 PM on March 15, 2008

Tesla coils, airships, yeah, we kinda expected that sort of stuff to feature in Red Alert 3. What was most vital for the game, however, was that it retain the previous title's most important aspect: the best damn live-action cutscenes this side of Wing Commander 3. And by best, I mean hammiest. So it's great to hear that, yes, things are definitely looking up on that front, with EALA's Chris Corry saying:

We really do think the live-action cinematics are a staple of the Red Alert series. We're going pretty full bore with the cinematics this time. We're going to have more than an hour of cinematics; it's almost a minimovie that we're shooting for this.
And with that, my excitement for the RTS genre reaches levels not seen since the late 1990s.

Close Your Eyes And Hope For Red Alert 3

Posted by Luke Plunkett at 4:44 PM on February 5, 2008

The latest Command & Conquer Battlecast, the official, full-of-ham video podcast of the series, has teased fans with news of a new product announcement, due in two weeks time. One that will give you "one more reason to cheer". It can't be a C&C3 expansion, that's already underway. It can't be Tiberium, because that's well out of the bag. Which when you look at the Command & Conquer universe leaves us with... Red Alert! Yes, the best damn games in the series. EA, if this is indeed the case, and you're making another Red Alert game, so help me God, you'd better get Kari Wuhrer on the phone.

PS - Yes, it could - hypothetically - be another Generals game, but they said it was a reason to cheer, not bitch about why they weren't making another Red Alert.

Man Makes C&C: Red Alert Tesla Coil, Electrocutes Things

Posted by Michael McWhertor at 6:40 AM on November 6, 2007

red_alert_tesla_coil.jpgIn an effort to protect his basketball court from Allied influences, Command & Conquer: Red Alert enthusiast Peter has focused his Tesla coil building expertise toward this Red Alert-style defensive tower. Not content to simply construct a real-life version of the structure from the ultra-popular real-time strategy game, Peter went the extra mile. He fashioned a squad of units—mostly from wood, cloth and wire frames—from the game, including a Tesla Trooper, Engineer and Conscript, through which he funnels thousands of volts of electricity. Let's give it up for science.

Now, who's ready to one-up Peter with their own homemade Tesla Tank?

Red Alert Goes Renegade

Australian Post Posted by Logan Booker at 11:02 AM on September 17, 2007

If you were a fan of Command & Conquer: Renegade - the series first, and only, foray into the FPS genre - then Red Alert: A Path Beyond will really have you sweating profusely in excitement. It's a freeware game that takes the Renegade concept and replaces the modern C&C setting with the World War II one from RA.

There's a beta client and server available for download now at the official website, so grab a few buddies and man those teslas.
