The latest physics-intensive racer from RedLynx features a killer track-editing system that lets users build ridiculously intricate environments. As seen on YouTube, one Trials Evo creator paid homage to Bethesda’s hit action RPG with a medieval race course.
Two men, three hands and a pair of rubber gloves may not sound like a recipe for video game victory, but it is! Until a cruel glitch denies them their massive accomplishment.
How much of a difference does it make for Trials Evolution to have tracks set in the great outdoors? A whole bunch. As great as the tracks in Trials HD were, Evolution’s levels open up a whole new plateau of vertigo and surprise. Here, you’ll see two of my favourites, Roller Coaster and Sewage Plant.
My time with Trials Evolution got me thinking a lot about human perfectibility. It’s essentially the principle that no matter how good a person is at something, given enough will and effort, there’s still ostensibly room for them to get even better. That idea seems to be one that developer RedLynx banks on with. “Yeah, you did great that time,” the Trials games smirk, “but bet you can’t shave off two more seconds off that time…” And so back you go.
It was nine months ago when I posted the original Trials HD story, attempting to increase awareness and seek an answer to the Trials HD Riddle. This was a worldwide exclusive for Kotaku Australia and, by all accounts, was a popular story. While this was the first many of you had heard of the riddle and its clues, the committed members of the Redlynx forums had already been attempting to answer this riddle for nearly two years. Now, in the lead up to the release of Trials Evolution (April 18th), Redlynx have today revealed the ANSWER to the Riddle and it can be found within this video.
I don’t take it quite as seriously as some of the commenters here at Kotaku Australia, but Trials Evolution is one of my most anticipated games of 2012. Now it has a release date, and it’s sooner than you might expect!
Disclaimer: I love Trials. Sorry about that. I know I should probably maintain some amount of distance when writing about it, but I can’t help myself. RedLynx has released a new trailer for the sequel and, well… let’s just say it looks a bit of alright.
PC games leak all the time. Even console games eventually turn up on torrent sites once their discs are pressed. But an Xbox Live Arcade game getting out, and one which isn’t that close to release, that’s a little stranger.
