Metal Gear Online Meme Expansion Dated

Posted by Mike Fahey at 1:20 AM on November 18, 2008

There isn't much of "later this year" left, so it's about time Konami gave us a solid date on the upcoming second expansion for Metal Gear Solid Online. The Meme expansion, first announced last month, should be available for download next week. November 25th to be exact, which places the release on a Tuesday.

The Meme expansion of course adds three new maps to Metal Gear Online, along with two new characters; Revolver Ocelot and the lovely Mei Ling, who has the means to transfix enemies by strutting her stuff.

Hydrophobia Washing Up On Store Shelves In March

Posted by Mike Fahey at 2:40 AM on November 15, 2008

It's been quite awhile since we've seen much of anything on Blade Interactive's water-physics showcase Hydrophobia. In fact, things have been pretty quiet on the subject since we posted screenshots of the title back in May of last year, so we're happy to hear that not only is the project still in existence, it's also nearing completion. Blade is now aiming at a March 2009 release for the title on the PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

We all knew, didn't we? Sure as eggs is eggs and God made little kittens, Resident Evil 5 was going to shamble on to the PC. Capcom did keep us hanging on,though - evading the issue like a Spec. Ops agent dodging an animated corpse.

Spore Goes Gold For A Sept 7th Release

Posted by Kotaku US Edition at 6:40 AM on August 15, 2008

Ladies and gentlemen, fire up the Creature Creator and prepare your finest penis-armed tripeds — Spore has left the building.

Even as I type, teams of misshapen, feather-crested spidergoats are ferrying the Gold disc over to the DVD factory with a note from Will Wright and a calender with a big red ring around September 7th.

The 'proper' versions of Spore for the PC & Mac will be accompanied by Spore Creatures for the Nintendo DS. iPhone owners will get their callused multi-touching fingers on Spore Origins on September 4th.

Burnout Paradise Cagney Update Dated

Posted by Mike Fahey at 12:40 AM on June 10, 2008

Criterion continues to roll out their giant content patches for Burnout Paradise. Hot on the heels of the Bogart patch, which mainly consisted of bug fixes and a few minor features, the company has announced the official release date for the more ambitious Cagney update. On July 10th at 9AM UK time, Burnout Paradise owners will gain access to three new Freeburn modes, over 70 new Freeburn challenges, two new vehicles, 3 new liveries, and the long-awaited ability to create custom soundtracks on your PlayStation 3. Hit the link below to see a full rundown of the changes coming with Cagney.

I finally bought the game this weekend ($AU 42.13 at Walmart) and I must say I am not disappointed with my purchase. A whole lot of game for a rather nice price, and with August bringing the addition of motorcycles to the game it only gets better.

Assault Heroes 2 Coming In May

Posted by Mike Fahey at 10:00 AM on May 1, 2008

Assault Heroes remains one of the best arcade shooter experiences on Xbox Live Arcade today - exactly the sort of game I used to play in arcades with my friends back in the day. Now Wanako Studios is readying Assault Heroes 2 for release next month, promising all of the action of the original and more. The new game adds hijackable enemy vehicles entering the mix, as well as taking the firefight into outer space for the first time. The game is due out on XBLA May 14th for the standard fee of 800 Microsoft points. In honour of the release date announcement, here's enough screens to create your own little Assault Heroes 2 flipbook.

Silent Hill 5 Named And Dated

Posted by Mike Fahey at 12:40 AM on April 22, 2008

No longer will we have to anxiously await Silent Hill 5 at some unknown date in the future! Now we can anxiously await Silent Hill: Homecoming, due out at the end of September for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, to help usher in the hectic fall gaming season. The latest installment of the now venerable series features shiny new graphics, an enhanced combat system, an all new protagonist in one Alex Shepard, returning home to solve the mystery of his missing brother, and not a bloodbath at the Homecoming Dance as I had hoped for. Oh well, there's always Prom Night.
