Angry Birds on Facebook is now Angry Birds Friends, a re-naming that will either horrify you or launch a new Facebook gaming addiction.
Game studio Rovio is working on a follow up to its wildly successful Angry Birds. Today on Finnish television, Rovio honcho Mikael Hed gave the first details about his studio’s upcoming title.
The Angry Birds franchise has only been around since December 2009. Yet, today, Finnish developer Rovio announced that its hit mobile game has been downloaded more than one billion times.
Rovio’s focused assault on the casual gaming public continues to pay off big time, as Angry Birds Space surpasses 50 million downloads in 35 days, breaking all previous records and making developers of big-budget console titles feel the need to re-evaluate their careers.

These two capuchin monkeys, Sasha and Thor, are mascots for Houston’s Gallery Furniture. Here, some brave iPad owner handed them Angry Birds Space to play. Not only did they not completely break the device, Thor even three-starred a level. See for yourself in the video above.
The first Angry Birds slipped onto the iPhone with little fanfare, slowly growing into one of the biggest games of all time. For the game’s first proper sequel, Angry Birds Space, developer Rovio comes shooting out of the gate with t-shirts, key chains, stuffed animals and Angry Birds Space Fruit Snacks.
Rovio has confirmed that Angry Birds will be animated this coming (Australian) spring, with 52 three-minute episodes made available for download on “all devices possible”. [Guardian UK]
