We recently learned that Runes of Magic would be hosting servers for, and more importantly in, the ANZ region. Kotaku AU had a chat with the game’s refreshingly candid creator Tony Tang from Runewalker Entertainment, as well as Tobias Gerlinger, CEO of the newly created Frogster Pacific, about why they’ve done what nearly no other MMO cares to do: open up shop in Oceania.
Those of you looking for a lag-free MMO experience with PvP (and are tired of Age of Reckoning) need look no further. Runes of Magic will be lavishing latency love on the Australian/New Zealand market, starting today. You can download the client here, which they’ve kindly slimmed down to about half its size at 3.5GB.
Free-to-play MMO Runes of Magic will be hosting servers in Brisbane dedicated to the Australian/New Zealand market. It’s fairly common practice nowadays to label a handful of servers “Oceanic” in a US datacentre, changing the game world’s clock and letting that be that. But come October 6, Runes of Magic will let you get your low latency grind on and will offer PvP as well, without hopping across the pond.
