Tera Patrick joined Saints Row 2 as a “special producer” giving hot developer “commentary“. Now, she’ll appear in game as part of new downloadable content.
Time to dust off your copies of Saints Row 2, kids, because developers Volition have revealed that three new pieces of downloadable content are on their way to the 360 & PS3.
Showtime’s newest television series, United States of Tara, seems achingly desperate to court controversy. Maybe that’s why this Saints Row 2 cameo feels so inappropriate and out of place.
The nice folks at Valve have just informed us that THQ’s open-world gangbanger simulation Saint’s Row II is now available for North, Central and South American gamers to purchase via Steam.
While THQ’s budget sadly doesn’t extend to having Gary Busey endorse Saints Row 2′s PC requirements, we can make believe. Just imagine crazy eyes, some enormous teeth and two thumbs up.
Here’s a TV spot for THQ’s Saints Row 2, which was just released in Japan. (It’s, well, interesting. Like PaRappa on crank or something.) The pun-filled ad focuses on the game’s customisation with the male character telling the female character that she had been a man until yesterday — a claim she denies!
There’s another ad after the jump as well.
THQ’s financial results today were pretty glum. But there was one piece of good news tucked in amongst the studio closures and money losses: Saints Row 2. It was announced that the game has shipped over two million copies worldwide since launch. We know, that’s shipped, not sold through to customers, but even if half the copies in the world are languishing unsold, that’s still a million sales. Not bad considering we’re still only around six months into the post-GTA IV era.
While we’re unleashing our hidden gangsta, THQ is turning Saints Row into Saints Mo. They’re getting firmly behind Movember and they are doing some special Saints Row 2 deals to support the cause. A special bundle is hitting EB stores tomorrow for PS3, with a Dualshock 3 plus Saints Row 2 for $159.95. $5 from each will go to Movember.
Also, the best mo action from this Movember will be immortalised in an update pack for Saints Row 2. So if you go hard, maybe your mo will feature in the game update. Nice.
Don’t forget to support your Mo Bros out there, and in doing so support men’s health issues, with donations supporting prostate cancer and men’s depression charities.
Movember + Saints Row 2 sites, and more details from the THQ press release about the immortalised mo action after the jump.
Releasing PC ports of popular crime-based sandbox games on time? That ain’t gangsta.
