Sam’s Club Prints Your New Madden Favre Cover While You Wait
3:40AM Mike Fahey | Those of you planning to pick up your copy of Madden NFL 09 at your local Sam’s Club may be in for a bit more value than the usual discounted prices. An official for the warehouse store dropped us a line this morning to let us know that Sam’s Club locations with photo centres will print out a high-quality version of the updated packaging featuring Brett Favre in his dashing New York Jets uniform, which we revealed to you last night, right inside the store upon purchase of the game. Sure, you could head over to EA’s Madden 09 site and download your own, but getting other people to do things for us is one of the principles that America was founded on. We checked out Sam’s prices for the games after receiving the news, and they do offer a nice little discount. The PS3 and Xbox 360 version are going for $US 55.55 ($US 83.22 for the collector’s edition), with the PS2 and PSP versions marked at $US 36.33, the Wii version at $US 46.66, and the DS version a bargain at $US 26.66. All this plus a free cover replacement while you wait? None too shabby. Update – Just got word from Walmart that they’ll be printing covers on-site as well, though the games are regular price and you don’t get a Walmart card with your picture on it – that’s reserved for managers. Mario Kart Midnight Launch At Sam’s Club
11:55AM Mike Fahey | Looks like warehouse club chain Sam’s Club had so much fun at their Super Smash Bros. Brawl midnight launch, they’ve decided to do another one, only this time for another game, because otherwise it would just be silly. Mario Kart Wii shall be the focus of this midnight launch, the second in Sam’s Club history, with players and parents of players able to line up at stores across the country on April 26th to await the stroke of midnight and assuage their driving ambition. Sam’s Club Climbs Aboard on the Smash Bros. Bandwagon
11:00AM Flynn De Marco | At the recent Sam’s Club yearly management meeting it was revealed that the bulk/discount retailer will be begin taking pre-orders for games, launching the new process with Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They will also be hosting midnight SSBB launch events at every Sam’s Club store that will include not only the game but each store will have around twenty Wii’s on hand as well. The game will retail there for under $US 44. This is a new thing for Sam’s Club so it will be interesting to see if people will actually attend a midnight launch there as opposed to going to a game store or other brick and mortar store. We have also been informed that Sam’s will soon be stocking Rock Band at just under $US 150 (something tells me it will be $US 149.99) which is about a $US 20 cheaper than most places. If you’re a Sam’s Club member, keep an eye on their website as they will be adding more options for pre-ordering SSBB and other titles in the future. More »
