Sega is bringing an enhanced version of Treasure’s Saturn beat-em-up Guardian Heroes to Xbox Live Arcade this (northern) fall, complete with enhanced HD graphics, online cooperative play, and an online versus mode supporting up to 12 players at once. Rejoice!
Sega is bringing back its beloved Dreamcast this spring – or at least two of its more memorable games, in downloadable form – but what of its predecessor, the sometimes spectacular but relatively unsuccessful Sega Saturn? Sega has not forgotten it.
Segata Sanshiro was SEGA’s mascot character for the ill-fated SEGA Saturn. The character was a parody of Sanshiro Sugata, the character from the Akira Kurosawa film.
Nintendo is not the only company that has had to explain, in press releases, what in the world it does. For at least 20 years, so has Sega. That description has never been much fun, sadly. But it has changed.
