Custom Crochet 1-UP Mushroom Scarf

5:30AM January 6, 2008 | Kotaku US Edition

We’ve seen our share of Mario-related scarves here at Kotaku, but I’ve never seen one quite like this. It’s the 1-UP mushroom, and unlike the knitted versions that make for your average scarf, this one is crochet. The scarf will set you back a cool $US 150, but it’s hand crafted to order, so if green isn’t your color, no worries. I do wonder if it’s actually warm – but I guess something like this is more of a fashion statement than a utilitarian knit.

The Invader Scarf Holds Secret Message

4:20AM December 14, 2007 | Mark Wilson

The Invader Scarf would have a place in our hearts if it were just a scarf that celebrated Space Invaders. But it does one better, combining the talents of pixel knitwear designer Office Lendorff and mobile specialist Kaywa, and fulfilling all of our geek urges in one. Each of these 500 limited edition scarves have QR-Codes at the bottom. When photographed with certain mobile phones (generally the type too cool to hit US shores), they reveal a secret message…and it sounds like many of the messages are different. So no, we have no clue what those little blocks say. But if you pony up $US 66 for one of these scarves, be sure to hit up our tips line.

Mario Villains Scarf

7:30AM October 8, 2007 | Maggie Greene

I love scarves. One of the great tragedies of moving to one of the most temperate parts of the West coast was, for me, the fact that serious winter clothes are practically never needed and I can’t get my several months of scarf wearing in over the winter. But for those of you who live in chillier climates, have a talent for knitting, and think that Mario characters make excellent accessories, a long ago post on Craftster (charts included!) can serve as your guide to creating your very own. Eons ago, we posted what Ashcraft described as “The Greatest Mario Scarf EVER”, but I think this one is pretty damn cute (and just my color). [via
