The Playstation Portable Travel Kit
Posted by Brian Crecente at 12:00 AM on November 19, 2008
I received this odd little bit of marketing in the mail this week. The Playstation Portable "travel pack" came with a press release touting the year the portable has had. Inside the carrying case are a bunch of pockets filled with earplugs, sleeping mask, an inflatable pillow and a little clock. Why is everything geared toward sleeping if this is also meant to hold my Playstation Portable? Hmm, maybe that's why the cardboard PSP included in the carrier has a screen loaded with, well, old games. You've got your Jeanne D'Arc, your Buzz, your Beats, your Hot Shots Golf 2. Sure, they're all part of the PSP-friendly Playstation Store, but what game could you put on that fake screen to show off the latest and greatest for the PSP. Not to say that the cardboard screen of a faux DS would fare any better.

Following the weekend rumour that
Some of you wrote to us this weekend wondering why the hell Amazon (or the online retailer of your choosing) cancelled your PSP-3000 pre-order. Well, if you were one of the dozens, if not hundreds, who opted for the 4GB Memory PSP Entertainment Pack — which featured a PSP 3000 and 4GB Memory Stick Pro Duo — Sony cancelling the release of said Entertainment Pack is the reason why. No, they're not abandoning the thing entirely to fix that little screen issue.
Seth Luisi, Director of Development at SCEA, made an announcement on the SOCOM Confrontation official website yesterday saying he's quite thrilled by the consumer response for the game since its launch, with players averaging 3.1 hours per person and over 300,000 player hours daily. Of course this has come at a cost, specifically to their servers, he said.
Let's talk a little bit about Resistance's smaller, but not so small brother. It's got a new 3rd person view which is a departure from what we've played on PlayStation 3. It's got 8 player online matches which can be pretty fun to play on a handheld. And for it being a PSP game, it gosh darn beautiful. Is this going to make PSPs fly off store shelves? not likely, but we'll just have to wait and see. A few screens after the jump.
Last week we pointed out, with the help of a telescope, the nifty new tiny

Everyday I mark the calender because it is one day closer to the release of the this game. Until then we got some more Killzone 2 screenshots from Leipzig. Also if you didn't get a chance, check out the

The PlayStation brand had a pretty darn good month, as it continues to cool off from strong Metal Gear Solid 4 sales, with over 600,000 things named PlayStation sold in the U.S. last month. Sony Computer Entertainment America responded to those NPD figures today, citing "strong momentum" — one of our favourite intangibles — and flooding us with growth percentages.
While I didn't attend E3 - I was hanging out in Kotaku Tower with Luke working the night shift - I did get to see the presentation of Resistance 2 just like everyone else. But since I didn't get to see the game in person, I had to make due by viewing screenshots and somewhat muddy-looking movies on my computer. At the time, I wasn't too impressed with the game from a graphical standpoint. I mean, it looked great, but after sitting down on a nice couch in front of a big-arse TV, I can say with confidence that, yes, Resistance 2 does look amazing.
