The build-up for this title has been immense — and the reviews are rolling in. There were those first Spore reviews, and yes, there were pros and there were cons. Many don’t like that the gameplay for Spore really isn’t all that complex. It’s too casual, some say! What does Will Wright think of the reviews, though?
We were very focused, if anything, on making a game for more casual players. Spore has more depth than, let’s say, The Sims did. But we looked at the Metacritic scores for Sims 2, which was around 90, and something like Half-Life, which was 97, and we decided — quite a while back — that we would rather have the Metacritic and sales of “Sims 2″ than the Metacritic and sales of Half-Life.
Oh. Okay.

This hits close to home, because home is a shithole (that’s what $AU 1562.4 rents you in Silicon Valley) and I’ll soon be paying IKEA plenty to make it look less so, because it’s right around the corner in the East P.A. and I can’t afford Ethan Allen. And if you want to trick out your Sims pad with BJARNUM or HENSVIK or DIKTAD or whatever fake words the Swedes come up with next, that expansion pack has now dropped (as of Thursday). This is the trailer showing all the shit you’ll be throwing in your Sim dumpster in three years.
I posted the music video for the Simlish mix of Natasha Bedingfield’s Pocketful of Sunshine a bit earlier today. Now Electronic Arts has released the full soundtrack for their upcoming FreeTime expansion pack which includes Simlish mixes recordings of Bedingfield, They Might Be Giants and Fire Flies. Hit the jump for the full press release and entire soundtrack credits.

Electronic Arts today announced the line-up of artists who will be making musical appearances in their upcoming Sims 2 expansion pack FreeTime. Among the list is English siren Natasha Bedingfield who actually rerecorded her recent single Pocketful of Sunshine for the game in Simlish. That’s right, the song was translated to the Sims invented tongue and then she had to learn and sing it. Sounds kinda cool, though my wife’s convinced she’s just babbling.
Bedingfield’s music video was also recreated using a Sim singer look-a-like and all of the same moves. Check out the video above for a brief interview with the singer and some voiceover outtakes. I’ve posted the full Simish music video on the jump.
