If there’s one thing Europeans can’t stand, it’s all the bloody tourists. Capcom plays off this fear with the European special edition of Dead Rising 2, showing off the game’s official box art alongside one ravishing ravaged high-roller.
While North American Final Fantasy XIII fans ponder forking out $US400 for a special Xbox 360 bundle, European fans are getting two different models to choose from – the Special Edition and the Elite Bundle. What’s the difference?
What do folks in the UK, France, Spain and the rest of Europe have to look forward to should they spend a little bit more on Bayonetta this January? It’s more than just an art book!
If you bought Tales of Vesperia’s special edition and saved your secret code for eight whole freaking months, now you may finally have your “special bonus.” It is slightly above “underwhelming,” but not exactly “whelming.”
Although Rock Band 2 is slated for a September 14 release on the Xbox 360, gamers who were hoping to save some cash by buying the game + instruments bundle will be disappointed.
The game will still launch as a timed Xbox exclusive, but only as a game disc with instruments available separately. The cheaper bundle will not turn up until mid October, coinciding with the PlayStation 3, PS2 and Wii version launch.
The Special Edition bundle will retail for $US 189, but eager Xbox 360 gamers who want the full Rock Band 2 experience on day one can expect to shell out an extra sixty bucks if they buy everything separately.
You know, maybe this isn’t a deliberate attempt to gouge money from a segment of the Rock Band fanbase. Maybe Harmonix are just trying to show Xbox gamers what it feels like to buy a more expensive import version of a game? Bah, either way.

A helpful GameStop employee has informed us that today is indeed the last day to preorder the special ultra hyper awesome limited collector’s edition of Grand Theft Auto IV at EBGameStop stores across the country. Do you understand what this means? As we speak the extra bits they’ve thrown in to the SE bundle are fading away like a McFly family picture. Those of us on the East Coast, that you have approximately one hour to get to the closest store with a 9PM closing and put your money down, or you’ll be stuck with just the game, without a spiffy lockbox to secure it. I contacted several of my local stores who have confirmed the fact, so you might want to hop on that.
Grand Theft Auto IV is out in just one week, meaning we should soon be flooded with real-life camera phone snaps of the game arriving in stores, including finally getting a look at the special edition packaging. Oh wait! That just happened, as Australian retail employees have gone hog wild in the stock room, getting their mitts on the PlayStation 3 version of the special edition box set, exposing its innards for all of the internet to see.
Valve and Nunchuk Games have teamed up to bring you a very special edition of the martial art skill game Ninja Reflex appropriately titled, Ninja Reflex: Steamworks Edition. This new downloadble through Steam only edition contains quite a few additional bits of content including new belt ranks, over 50 achievements and “a special “basket” of Easter Eggs from the universe of Half-Life and Portal.” That portion of it has me more excited than any of the others. Perhaps our old friend Companion Cube will make an appearance? If you order this special edition now, you can even get 10% off the already low, low price of $9.95. What a bargain!

Nintendo just issued a press release confirming something we heard about back on July 23rd from about gajillion online retailers, but it is always good to see official word. Brain Age 2: More Training In Minutes A Day is coming bundled with a special crimson and black Nintendo DS. The bundle should start showing up on store shelves on August 21st at a suggested retail price of $US149.99. From the description on the official press release: The top half of the new Nintendo DS sports a smooth, glossy Crimson, reminiscent of a dangerous shade of lipstick or a cherry-red sports car. The bottom is a matte black – an Onyx yin that complements the Crimson yang.
I only point this out because Onyx Yin and the Crimson Yang would make an awesome comic book / rap duo. Hit the jump for the always entertaining press release.
