Ever since trying beat my buddy’s records on Super Punch Out!! for the SNES, I’ve loved the idea of speed runs. The Super Metroid speed run is perhaps one of the most hotly contested — now with some new sequence breaking, OmnipotentEntity appears to have gotten the time down to an incredible 12 minutes…
Siglemic has now been playing Super Mario 64 for six days straight. His goal? To break the 120 star speed run time. He’s literally just done that (you can watch above) but he’s decided to keep on truckin’ in an attempt to also break the bare bones 70 star record, which he’s attempting LIVE, right now!
Thanks go to VG247 for unearthing this incredible speed run of Dark Souls. For those of you currently engrossed in one of the most difficult games released this year, or any other year for that matter, this is must watch stuff. And it goes without saying – spoilers. Click on to see how it was done.

It took me more than 40 hours to play through From Software’s dark dungeon crawler Demon’s Souls, which now seems rather foolish after having watched someone sprint through the role-playing game in less than an hour.

Genuine or tool-assisted, this speed run through the original Super Mario Bros for the NES is not astounding for its six-minute-long sprint through the Mushroom Kingdom. It’s the presentation, faux projected on a concrete wall, that’s so impressive.
Fine, Portal‘s awesome. Shooting holes in walls and jumping through them? Whatever genius came up with this innovative mechanic needs a punnet of fresh iguanas. Or a pair of box cutters.
As you can see, I’m pretty crappy at giving gifts. But I do know a good video when I see one, or two even. Watch them, and be amazed, as Portal is completed in a smoking-hot 18 minutes and 5 seconds.
Now, that’s a speed run. Second clip after the jump.
