The interwebs are abuzz with the news that comic book legend Stan Lee will upgrade from his usual cameo role to playable character in Activision’s Spider-Man movie tie-in. Seriously?
Break.com gathers Katee Sackhoff, Stan Lee, a rapping Seth Green and several scantily clad models for this parody of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”, “Geek and Gamer Girls”, which are apparently attractive women who love posing naked with toys.
The man who’s got the most glory for creating and co-creating Marvel Comics super-hero icon will have a cameo in an upcoming Activision game. No word if his voice-over work includes the word “Excelsior.”
Let’s jump right in. Here’s Spider-Man creator Stan Lee talking about video games at Comic Con:
When you talk about games evolving over the years and becoming more like movies, in many ways, they’ve gone beyond movies”, he said. “To do a movie is difficult, but it’s linear. There’s a beginning, a middle and an end, and that’s it — you write a story.
In a videogame, you’re writing many stories within the story. It’s a totally different structure and a totally different philosophy of writing and, I think, a much, much more difficult one. I get the feeling more work goes into these videogames than even goes into the movies.
I marvel at the fact the games look as good, and in some cases better, as the most expensive movies. [Those]guys are just geniuses. Now you watch one of these games and it’s like watching the greatest superhero movie, except you’re part of it. It’s indescribable.
Yep, Stan Lee is awesome. But we knew that.

newVideoPlayer("segahulk527_kotaku.flv", 500, 301,""); Why do I continue to post these behind-the-scenes vignettes for Sega’s new Incredible Hulk video game, despite the fact that they hardly every offer any real new insight into what goes into creating a game of this magnitude? It’s all about Stan Lee, really. The man fascinates me, and the Hulk is a big part of why. The man is always cheerful, always courteous, always polite and clean…you just know that somewhere inside him there’s a Hulk waiting to come out. I won’t rest until I’ve got a video of Stan Lee screaming “F**K” and punching something. This is my quest. It’ll probably never happen, but it’s good to have a dream.
newVideoPlayer("ironmandowney_kotaku.flv", 463, 280,""); Here’s another in the series of the Victor Lucas narrated shorts for Sega’s Iron Man video game, this time featuring the voice acting talents of a Robert Downey Jr. who seems to have a soft lining of goose down on his head, which they explain is for an upcoming role. He doesn’t make a good blond, but he does make a damn fine Tony Stark. Even Stan “The Man” Lee thinks so! Listening to Downey Jr. read the lines, we can at least rest assured that the game will be a joy to listen to as well as look at. Here’s hoping the gameplay follows suit!
