Supreme Commander creator Chris Taylor has big ideas for Supreme Commander 2. Ideas involving extra factions. Thing is, he can’t execute on them. Not yet, anyways. Because modern PCs, with their SLis and quad cores and whatnot, just aren’t capable of doing what he wants them to do:
So, you’ve played it on PC. Actually, you can only play it on PC. Soon, there will be a second option – the Xbox 360, seeing as Red Ant has picked up the rights to distribute the game locally. True, its release in the US was pushed back to “later this year”, but it does mean its debut here “later this year” makes perfect sense.
Sadly the 360 version doesn’t include Forged Alliance, the PC expansion, but there’s no reason to believe to won’t come at a later date in the form of a download or some such.
I’ve asked Red Ant if it has any idea of an RRP. Hopefully the price will be tempting enough to convince us to buy the game here.

Bit-tech went and asked itself this very question, considering no amount of tarot card reading, crystal ball gazing or deciphering of entrails would provide a reliable answer.
To this end, the hardware review site not only reviewed Vista SP1, but vanilla Vista with hotfixes installed. This way, it could see whether SP1 was just a massive bunch of previously-released hotfixes, or if Microsoft had included some independent performance tweaks. More »
Patience, 360 fans, is a virtue, one any of you waiting for the console version of Supreme Commander would do well to polish up on. Aspyr, who are publishing the game, have announced that the title’s slipped to sometime later this year, with only a “spring or early summer” timeframe hinted at. But isn’t Gas Powered Games busy with its intergalactic RPG Space Siege? Well, according to the latest GPG newsletter, it is, but the developer is also gearing up for two new, shiny things: another expansion for Supreme Commander, and something as-yet-unannounced for the PC.
Here’s the snippet from the newsletter:
You’re probably thinking, these guys know how to keep busy, and that’s a bit of an understatement because we have so many new things in development. I already hinted at another expansion pack for SupCom, and I’m even going to hint at another big secret: We have a new PC game that will be announced very shortly, and it’s unlike anything we’ve done before. Stay tuned for more information!
As long as it’s not Dungeon Siege III, count me in. Chris Taylor may know the RTS genre like the back of a Krogoth, but when it comes to role-playing… well, here’s hoping Space Siege is amazing.

Been a few weeks now since Chris Taylor lost control and spilled the beans that Supreme Commander would be turning up on a console. Thing is, back then, we didn’t know which console. Do now. It’ll be appearing on the 360 sometime early next year, and will feature a new HUD and control scheme, new units, “updated” maps and a whole boatload of multiplayer options for XBL play. Grand.
Look, we know PC-to-console RTS ports are getting popular. But Supreme Commander? Really? Shit was pretty complex. That doesn’t matter to creator Chris Taylor, though. Not at ALL. He’s told Pro-G games that they’re already working on a console port of the title, and that while they’re not set on a system the 360 is looking the most likely destination (though a PS3 version is “not out of the question”).
