Yes, Yes, Star Ocean 4 & The Last Remnant Are Playable

3:30PM Brian Ashcraft | Back on Monday, Square Enix announced its big Tokyo Game Show plans. The company hadn’t then decided in what form The Last Remnant and Star Ocean 4 would take at the show — whether they’d just be new trailers or actually playable. Well, Square Enix has made of its mind and yes, both games will be playable on the TGS show floor. Not only that, there will be trailers, too. So when you’re not playing, you can be watching. And when you’re not doing that, you can be doing other things. 『ラスト レムナント』と『スターオーシャン4』は東京ゲームショウにプレイアブル出展 [Famitsu] More »

King of Fighters ‘98 Getting Xbox LIVE Arcade Release

11:00PM Brian Ashcraft | A Tokyo Game Show 2008 list of games leaks that The King of Fighters ‘98 Ultimate Match will be released as an Xbox LIVE Arcade game. The game was originally released in arcades and SNK’s Neo Geo and later ported to the Dreamcast and Playstation. There’s no date for the title, but SNK recently released KOF ‘98 Ulimate Match for the PS2 earlier this summer. The game even got a Japanese arcade re-release this year, running on Taito’s TypeX hardware. No word on pricing for the XBLA version or a release date. Tokyo Game Show 2008 Tickets Go On Sale July 17th!

9:00PM Brian Ashcraft | Even though E3 is next week, it’s never too early to talk about the Tokyo Game Show. So! For those interested in attending TGS 2008, good news: You’ll be able to buy tickets beforehand. That’s right, convenience stores across the country will be selling them via Electronic Ticket Pia for ¥1,000 (¥1,200 with tax). That’s ten bucks plus tax in U.S. money. But what does that matter? You’ll have to be in Japan if you want to buy tickets early. TGS tickets go on sale starting July 16th. 前売入場券は2008年7月16日より販売 [Famitsu] [Pic] More »

TGS 2008 Official Poster And Slogan (Both Kinda Stink)

7:00PM Brian Ashcraft | The Tokyo Game Show has announced its official poster and slogan. The poster (pictured) features sayings in various languages. The English ones are “Go for it!”, “Fantastic!!” and “Here’s a break!” Pretty sure I’ve never said “Here’s a break!” in my life. Like ever. The official slogan doesn’t get much better. It is: Saa, ikou! GAME no jikan desu. (Let’s go! It’s GAME time.) So profound. Makes “Here’s a break!” sound like utter drivel. TGS runs October 9th to the 12th with the first two days being business days. Over 170 companies will be participating and organizers expect 180,000 total attendees. TGS 2008 [CESA] More »
