I’m in California this week for the purpose of checking out a bunch of video games that will be shown at E3 next month. I’m a pre-E3 judge*, you see, bouncing from one showcase with a game publisher to another, signing lots of paperwork in which I swear not to tell people about these games for a few weeks.
The Final Fantasy series has been renowned for excellent soundtracks since back in the 8-bit era. So it’s really no surprise that Square Enix would release a game like Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy. Despite hitting the streets in Japan back in February, it has only recently been announced for Western release.
Theatrhythm Final Fantasy is apparently flying off store shelves in Japan. Gamers can beef up their Final Fantasy music game experience with some pricey DLC. Sister site Kotaku Japan put the game through its downloadable content paces.
While some of my colleagues may not be fans of the first Final Fantasy-based rhythm game for the Nintendo 3DS, I continue to hold out hope for Square Enix’s Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.
