Alright, it may be a Monday, but it’s still April Fools’ Day over here, a very special day in video gaming. Many related companies, studios and merchants are pulling hoaxes and stunts, and making gag announcements. So let’s round up as many as we can here!
Damn society, always trying to put the safety of the many above the enjoyment of a few. That’s why we can’t have real Portal 2 turrets scattered about our homes, monitoring and usually protecting our valuables and loved ones. Thanks the amazing things retailer ThinkGeek we can now at least own an inflatable facsimile.
While NECA rolled out a bunch of impressive Valve-licensed stuff, I was still charmed by the Portal 2 offerings shown by ThinkGeek. Along a Companion Cube cookie jar and talking turrets, they also had Aperture Science cores that also blurted out phrases from the Portal games.
Retire that poor, battered Dreamcast desperately clinging to life in your entertainment centre with a shiny new one from ThinkGeek, where they’re offering the console new in box for $US99.
Occasionally there’s a story that hits on April 1st that you only wish was a prank. Pii Pii Brothers, a $US 35 import for the Nintendo Wii, is such a story. OK, it’s actually just a prank. But still.
The play mechanics are simple. Prepare yourself by strapping on the included belt harness and jacking in your Wiimote.

And if by “wild”, I mean “Atomic Live 2007″, then the headline is completely true. While cruising around the World GameMaster Tournmanet section of the expo hall, I came across this chap with the 8-bit tie fitted snugly to his neck.
