When Warner Bros. snapped up ailing publisher/developer Midway, it bought most, but not all of the company’s assets, including intellectual properties like Mortal Kombat and This Is Vegas. What else did Warner Bros. grab in the Midway closeout? Lots. More »

In this new This is Vegas trailer we get to see some of the awesome visuals they are working on for the game. I know GTA has covered this to some respect but it will be interesting to see an entire game built around this theme. Regardless, This is Vegas will do just that allowing you to make VIP connections at the hottest clubs or race cars on the underground circuit. The game will be released sometime in 2009 for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Along with the news that it had beaten last year’s losses by over 50% this year, Midway’s quarterly results also show that two of its big titles have slipped off this year’s calender into the next. Both the continuously pushed back Vin Diesel vehicle Wheelman and the GTA-style This Is Vegas won’t be seeing the light of day this year, but they’ve got TNA Impact coming out so everything will be fine and dandy. “Notwithstanding the game slips and the likely delay of a return to profitability for another year, we remain cautiously optimistic that Midway will perform better in 2009 than it is expected to perform in 2008″, said Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, who also said that “the low point in Midway’s turnaround story” is behind it.
See? Everything is going to be alright. Pachter says so.

Colour is your friend — or so we’ve heard. But colour is totally BFFs with Midway’s This Is Vegas, a game we doubt will ever be brushed off by the gaming set for its tendency to dip too much into the browner portions of the spectrum. This Is Vegas has more colour per pixel than, well, just about any PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 release that we can think of. Oh wait, just remembered Kameo. That was a colourful nightmare, wasn’t it?
A paltry three new screens away you in the gallery below. Do try to make the most of them.
This is Vegas? I always thought Vegas was about bright lights, good times, regrettable unions. Not punching and gyrating floosies. Well, punching and floosies do feature, I guess, I just never figured they’d be the only things shown in a trailer for a game based in the city. Then again, seeing as this is a Midway GTA clone, maybe I should have.
A powerful businessman is starting to turn everyone’s favorite den of sin and debauchery into a family-friendly tourist trap! Madness you say? THIS IS VEGAS! *slow-motion kicks you into a bottomless pit* Sorry. This is Vegas is Midway’s newly announced open world lifestyle action experience, in which you must build your own seedy underground empire in order to bring back the best parts of Vegas – sex, corruption, and gambling. You’ll find yourself hanging out at seedy night clubs, gambling, racing cars, beating people up, and seducing women, all in the name of restoring Sin City to it’s former ‘glory’. “We are thrilled to be unveiling the first-ever videogame experience which allows players to live out their wildest Vegas fantasies,” said Alan Patmore, studio head, Surreal. “Whether it’s partying in the hottest night clubs, racing in underground circuits, testing your luck at the tables or getting into a barroom brawl, This is Vegas has it all.”
If Rainbow Six: Vegas pissed off city officials, wait until they get a load of this. This is Vegas is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC in Winter of 2008.
