Every year, Time magazine rounds up what they call “The TIME 100,” a list of the most influential personalities of the year. In many ways the round-up is simply a rogue’s gallery of “here’s who you probably heard of recently,” but the list is an interesting way to track what seems to be taking precedence in the national consciousness.
It’s been an incredible year for Mojang’s sandbox construction game, with mobile versions out in the wild, an ever-growing fanbase and their very own convention. To top all of that off, Notch and crew had Minecraft deemed as the past year’s best game by one of the world’s oldest news magazines.
Look, it’s all opinion, and differences of opinion are good, but last year Time Magazine claimed that Alan Wake was the game of 2010 and I simply can’t jive with that. This year, however, I think Time has done a great job of their top 10 games of 2011 list. I may quibble with the order, but really — they’ve kinda nailed it.

The voting has ended and Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins have officially join Lady Gaga, Robert Pattinson and Ashton Kutcher in Time magazine’s 2010 list of the 100 most influential people in the world.
In the race to determine Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, readers rank Penny Arcade’s Gabe and Tycho just above President Barack Obama, but they’ve got a ways to go before catching up to Lady Gaga.
Project Natal continues to rack up awards for innovation faster than the Nintendo Wii circa early 2007, making its way onto Time‘s 50 Best Inventions of 2009 list. Microsoft is pleased.

Making the story even stranger, the developer was none other than Warren Spector and it appeared he was being used as an example of what surgical work could be done to tone and tuck your way to a younger look. What!!!
