Week in Games: Beautiful Katamari Edition
10:00AM Flynn De Marco | My game purchases this week will be woefully small as not only am I staying with a friend in NYC who is a non-gamer and therefore has no consoles, but I am leaving on Wed. for LA to go to E for All. But one thing I will definitely be picking up is Beautiful Katamari just so I can hold it in my hand and wish I could play it. What’s on your must have purchase list this week? More »
Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground Demo Hits Live
3:00AM Mike Fahey | With EA’s Skate for the Xbox 360 heading to retail shelves tomorrow, Activision has gone ahead and put a playable demo of Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground up on Xbox Live Marketplace for your enjoyment. Measuring up at a hefty 1.08GB, the demo allows you to tour Philadelphia and try out some of the latest installment’s new moves. With both a Skate demo and this one now available, it is time to see which flavour of next-gen skateboarding you favour. Me? I’m still firmly in Tony’s camp, having been relatively unimpressed by Skate’s flickit control scheme. Your results may vary. Beastie Boy Captured, Trapped In Tony Hawks Game
2:30PM Luke Plunkett | As much as I love their scampish little ways, there’s no denying the fact the Beastie Boys are getting old. Not just regular “older”, like, I saw them on TV the other day and they were old. Best way to combat the signs of ageing? Appearing as a glossy, over-rendered playable character in a videogame! That’s what the Beastie’s MCA (Adam Yauch) is doing, Activision announcing to MTV’s Stephen Totilo that he’ll be a playable chatacter in the upcoming Tony Hawks Proving Ground. Dude looks sharply-dressed in a suit. Even sharper considering he looks like he’s skating on the moon. Tony Hawk’s Proving Ground, Incredible Video Creation and Erection Hoodies
4:30AM Mark Wilson | Activision gave me a lengthy rundown of Tony Hawk’s proving ground here in Leipzig, Germany. I didn’t get my hands on the game, but got a really nice tour of the new features, like the promising personal skate park creation, which can be shared with your friends in online multiplayer. But I’m not going to run through all of it. Instead we’re focusing on what I consider the two most incredible innovations: a powerful video creation tool and hoodie physics that resemble Jabba the Hutt’s stiffy (not that we’d know). More »
