These long, dark years of waiting are finally over as the latest entry in the Twisted Metal series goes gold. The vehicle combat spectacular races into our hearts on February 14, and it’s bringing a love letter from multiplayer shooter Starhawk along for the ride. Pretty sweet, right?
The creator of venerable car-combat series Twisted Metal had hoped that the game’s upcoming PlayStation 3 reawakening would not be subjected to an “Online Pass” — a single-use code unlocking online multiplayer access to the game. David Jaffe admitted it wasn’t his decision though, and Sony proved him right. Twisted Metal will indeed know the code.
Twisted Metal co-director David Jaffe manages to make fans of the series extremely happy and me feel incredibly old in one fell swoop.
While not officially saying this is official, Twisted Metal creator of David Jaffe acknowledges that the game’s cover art is up on GameStop’s web site and, hell, “I figured I’d share a bigger version of it with you guys.”
There’s no getting around the fact that the playable characters of Twisted Metal are pretty much a veritable parade of broken souls. With an apparent deal with the devil lurking in his past, biker-turned-grim-reaper Mr Grimm may be the most shattered of all the game’s automotive combatants. This clip puts his weapons and attacks on display and hints at what drives the dread-locked bad-arse.
The PlayStation folks are promising we’ll “see beyond the doors” — the doors at the tail end of the above teaser clip — on October 5, 2011. What brand of video game hype is this? And should we be expecting something amazing next week?
