Did They Improve The Ocarina Of Time’s Graphics Enough For You?

Here’s a new trailer for the June-scheduled 3DS re-make of The Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. The graphics have been improved, though my memory already made them look as good as they appear in this new trailer.

Warbook Getting Update

Confession: since posting about Facebook RPG Warbook the other day, I’ve become obsessed. I watch my gold every hour in another tab in my browser. I check if other Facebook members have attacked me. I IM friends to counter attack (OK, get revenge). My wife thinks I’m working, with all the furious clicking of my trackpad. But I’m playing all the time.

So it’s exciting, to me at least, that Warbook is down with the intriguing message: “Something big is coming. – TJ.” Oh TJ, don’t tease us. Is anyone else out there excited? Or have I just been attacking abandoned accounts? (Actually, yeah, I have. I’m a cheap fighter.) UPDATE: They look like they’re back up. All I noticed is a double listing of “recruit friends.” Anyone see anything else? PS, join my alliance: The Silence.

Upgrade Your PS3 Hard Drive

One of the neatest features of the Playstation 3, in my book, is that you can swap out the hard drive it comes with yourself using an off-the-shelf hard drive. Sure it may be pretty self-explanatory to some, but not everyone knows how to upgrade the hard drive on their Playstation 3. Fortunately, Seagate was kind enough to send me a little howto guide and kit. The guide walks you through the relatively painless process for upgrading your 40GB or 80GB hard drive to something roomier, like say a 160GB drive.

The upgrade allows you to swap out the built-in drive with a new one, without losing any of your content. Why is Seagate explaining how to upgrade a Playstation 3? Because they sell hard drives silly. Hit the jump for the even-Brian-can-do-it instructions.

Video Card Buying Advice From Someone Who Matters

You don’t listen to us. It’s OK, we’ve known for some time now. As long as our moms are reading and appreciating our cock allusions as much as we are, things are going pretty well on the old Kotaku. But if you plan on buying a videocard for your computer in the near future, you should listen to Epic’s Tim Sweeney, the number cruncher behind the Unreal 3 engine. Here’s his advice: In Unreal Tournament 3 and Gears of War for PC, there is a significant gain in having 512MB of video memory rather than 256MB. So, first and foremost, get at least a 512MB card if you can afford it. If you haven’t maxed out your budget, then go for the maximum single-card performance that doesn’t require extreme cooling, e.g. buy an entry-level GeForce 8800 over a GeForce 8600.
