Game or film would be bad enough. Both together would be like multiplying zeroes. The Movie Blog drops word of Boll’s latest ambition, which is confusingly titled Bloodrayne 3: Warhammer. Yeah, I have no idea what that means, either, except maybe a C&D in the mail from Mythic Entertainment? Kristanna Loken is said to be back in the lead role.

I couldn’t track down what The Movie Blog was sourcing but this post says this movie will begin filming in January. Which means it’ll be finished in February. Or at least look like it.

The game, publishers by Boll AG and developed by Replay Studios, describes itself as a “dark and intense single-player shooter for PC that depicts the horrific realities of the Vietnam War as seen through the eyes of a young US soldier.”

The game has you playing as a member of a Tunnel Rat squad working to clear out an underground tunnel system in the jungles of Vietnam.

The game is based on Boll’s movie 1968 Tunnel Rats and is packed with an entire eight, yes eight, levels. It also include ten whole weapons and 20 types of traps. All of that for a mere $US20. Pass.

The 29th Annual Golden Raspberry Awards were held over the weekend, and as expected, Mike Myers and his cinematic abominaton The Love Guru won big. But career video game “filmmaker” Uwe Boll didn’t go home empty-handed.

He won the award for Worst Director, courtesy of three of his films for the year (Postal, Tunnel Rats & Dungeon Siege, which picked up 5 nominations), but perhaps more fittingly was also given a Razzie “Worst Achievement Award” for his career’s work. The award labels Boll “Germany’s answer to Ed Wood”.

Which is about as fitting a label as you’re going to get for the man.

But, he does seem awfully proud of the potential dishonours.

Emailing BollBashers.com, Boll says points out that he’s sharing the nominee list with some pretty big names:

“that I’m this time also nominated as best supporting actor against stars like BEN KINGSLEY and PIERCE BROSNAN shows that my genius comes more and more into his peak stadium! all my three movies are nominated in different categories: IN THE NAME OF THE KING (what an epic masterpiece with tons of stars like jason statham), TUNNELRATS (against Tunnelrats Clint Eastwoods bullshit Letters of Imovio ..or what the fuck was the title of that movie …is an amateurclip of brainwashed patriots) and of course POSTAL (where Dave Foley dick is in a very nice shot -i created in inspiration of Jean Luc Gordards work in the sixties…you remember: the black and white stuff with jean paul belmondo…and Verne Troyer gets raped by 1000 monkeys (this was inspired by the later work of Gus van Sant .especially the work he is doing in his trailers…).!
I never won a razzie …but this year I’m sure that there is no way around Uwe Boll so that finally I get the award I deserve!”

You know, as much as I hate Boll’s movies I remain fascinated by the man behind them. I wrote up a story a few years back for the Rocky about him. I spoke with Boll, Vince Desi, some of the others who have worked with him and what I came away with was the realisation that while Boll sucks at making movies, he’s really, really good at getting the money to make them.

Take for instance the comments from Gas Powered Games about In the Name of the King, given prior to the movie’s disastrous release. It shows just how charismatic Boll must be.

The Golden Raspberry Awards are the anti-Oscars, celebrating the worst that film has to offer, so it comes as no surprise that our favourite video game movie director Uwe Boll be nominated for four.

According to Larry Carroll of the MTV Movie Blog, Boll appears four times on the 2008 Razzie ballot, with nominations for Worst Director, Worst Career Achievement, and two nominations for Worst Picture. Only one director in the history of film making could have two Worst Picture nominations in one year. That’s our Uwe! Both Dungeon Siege and Postal are up for the not coveted award, facing off against the likes of The Happening, Meet Dave, and High School Musical 3.

There are worse movies and movie directors out there, but not this year. No, this is Uwe’s time to shine. And should he lose…well, it takes a big man to lose the biggest loser competition.

2008 ‘Razzies’ Nominees Include Indy 4, Paris Hilton And Tom Cruise – How Would You Vote? [MTV Movie Blog - Thanks Jason!]

And a damn good one too. So good, I’m amazed and embarrassed that it took me this long to see it. This brilliantly D-quality take on Konami’s classic everyway-scrolling shooter was an original production created by Black20 and IGN, not by Mr. Boll himself. And I totally slept on it. Sincere apologies.

The two day long festival will feature a wide variety of famed video game movie director Uwe Boll’s greatest hits, culminating in the world premier of Boll’s Far Cry movie, with a pre-showing Q&A session with the man himself. Not only will you get to see his video game fare in the form of In the Name of the King and Alone in the Dark, you’ll also get a look at his revenge pictures Seed and Heart of America. As if this wasn’t enough motivation, the Downtown Independent will also be premiering Uwe Boll’s Tunnel Rats on Friday – soon to be a majorly bad video game!

If you’ve ever wanted to learn more about the man behind the movies, well, now’s your chance.

Visiting Uwe: The Uwe Boll Homestory goes behind the embarrassing megalomaniacal Boll quotes for a look at how the director of The House of the Dead, Blood Rayne and Postal lives, loves and plays with his dogs. Fortunately, it’s free to watch online, if you don’t feel like shelling out a penny for the DVD.

It’s clear that Boll cares passionately about movies and admires some of the industry’s greatest directors. What’s not quite clear is how he learned nothing from any of them.

A Los Angeles arbitrator found that Boll, who brought us masterpieces of cinema such as “Postal” and “Alone in the Dark,” sent nasty-arse emails to competitors that disparaged Fantastic Films, steered away from FFI the business he was obligated to provide, and failed to pay them commissions. The libel claim itself counts for $US200,000. Additionally, the court on Nov. 5 confirmed the arbitrator’s findings that, more or less, Boll’s testimony in this dispute was, in lawyer-speak, horseshit. Sucks to be Uwe!
