Wrapping up a panel on Star Trek: The Captains, William Shatner’s documentary about the leading men of the Star Trek universe, Capt. Kirk rose to reprise the most famous four-letter word in Trek history, the subject of “The Long Khan,”, a documentary about the meme which premiered tonight on EPIX.
Shatner asked that the crowd join him in belting out one last rueful taking of Ricardo Montalban’s name in vain. Here it is. We shall leave you now, as you left her … marooned at the centre of a Comic-Con panel … buried alive … buried aliiiiiive.
Here is exactly what was shown of Halo: Anniversary‘s singleplayer campaign, today at Comic-Con 2011. The demonstration was also given to press at E3 back in June; this is its first public display. It covers the classic level “Silent Cartographer,” and showcases the ability to switch between updated high-definition graphics and the low-def visuals of the original Halo: Combat Evolved.
Last week, I ran a video that showed a Nintendo rep playing The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword using the required Motion Plus advanced Wii Motion Control. I thought it was cool, but many readers expressed disappointment that you’re still using motion control to trigger the moves of your character in the game. You’re not performing 1:1 synced motion-controlled swordplay.
Final Fantasy Type-0 is a big game—so big that it’s coming on two UMDs. Big games need big trailers.
And when they’re not big, they can at least be long. The latest FF Type-0 trailer clocks in at five minutes.
The game, which features a theme song by Japanese rockers Bump of Chicken, will be out in Japan on October 13 for ¥7,700 (US$98).

From the creator of “Elemental Kombat” comes this, a tale of cosmic justice delivered when some guy wins four in a row with Kirby in Super Smash Bros and starts douching it up. He totally had that coming.
When Shape Boxing 2 originally went on sale, giant boob idol and former Sega arcade spokesgirl Megumi appeared in the game’s commercials. At the time, I thought this was because she’d lost a lot of weight after having a child.
But as this gameplay footage reveals, I could be wrong. Just maybe.
As Japanese YouTube commenters point out, the in-game announcer’s voice does sound rather sexy for an exercise game.
We’ve seen a teaser of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City imported into Grand Theft Auto IV‘s visual and physics engine, RAGE. Another mod team is hard at work on the same conversion for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Ubisoft’s E3 2011 demonstration of Far Cry 3 was—obviously—not the only way to run through the jungle and get to the chopper. Flexibility and player choice are key in Far Cry games, which Ubisoft illustrates in the above gameplay demo.
It’s the other way to skin the cat that was Far Cry 3‘s E3 showcase, plus some commentary from Ubisoft Montreal on next year’s game. You can revisit the other way to complete this same objective, with commentary, afterward.
Far Cry 3 is on the books for a 2012 release on the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
More than 120 licensed vehicles, modern makes and classic models, populate the world of Driver: San Francisco. The City by the Bay was the scene of the greatest car chase in cinema history, Dodge vs. Ford, so the fleet reveal for Ubisoft’s action racer naturally genuflects to American automotive pride. Driver: San Francisco releases Aug. 30.
Artist Justin Wallis has taken Gecko’s chiptune track 1988 and made his own music video for it, using little but his drawing skills and a Nintendo DSi.
