What’s this then about a new Rock Band game?

The reference comes from, of all places, Vic Mignogna, best known as the voice of Edward Elric in Fullmetal Alchemist and his work in quite a few Dragon Ball Z games.

About 6 minutes into part five of a six part recording taken from the Winter SAC-Anime convention Mignogna falls face first into what appears to be NDA-breaking material.

“I did this, it’s like this Rock Band video game that’s coming out… Oh, I don’t think I should have said that,” gets out before stopping.

At which point another panelist, Laura Bailey, pulls him aside and whispers things in his ear and they change the subject.

Brief, innocuous, possibly apocryphal, but still tantalising.

If it is indeed a Rock Band, Rock Band game, my money is still on it being the Beatles title Harmonix is working on, seeing as they’ve said that that game is taking up all of their time right now.

Of course it could be Dragon-Ball Z’s Marching Musical Mayhem or any number of rhythm game knock-offs.

[Thanks Seto]

While we might not know too much about D3Publisher’s upcoming video game farce Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard, today’s voice talent announcement is nearly enough to warrant must-buy status. Stepping into the throat of faux-iconic hero Matt Hazard is Arrested Development’s Will Arnett. Will plays the classic 80’s video game icon given a chance at a comeback by sinister Marathon Megasoft owner Wallace “Wally” Wellesley, who is secretly plotting Hazard’s death. Giving voice to the villain? None other than How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris, who has also appeared in the Harold and Kumar films as well as some old medical drama television show I promised I wouldn’t mention.

Doogie Howser! Doogie Howser is playing the bad guy in the game! Go Doogie! Wow, it felt good to let that out. Anyway, press release follows.

WILL ARNETT AND NEIL PATRICK HARRIS LEND VOICE TALENT TO D3PUBLISHER’S UPCOMING SHOOTER EAT LEAD: THE RETURN OF MATT HAZARD

Hazard/Arnett/Harris ‘08 — The Change Gamers Need!

CAMBRIDGE- October 27, 2008 – D3Publisher (D3P) today announced that award-winning Hollywood actors Will Arnett, best known to audiences for his roles on television’s “30 Rock” and “Arrested Development,” and Neil Patrick Harris, currently appearing on television’s “How I Met Your Mother,” will voice the main characters in Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard™. This original third-person shooter with a sense of humour is anticipated for release in Q1 2009 for PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft®.

In Eat Lead, Will Arnett will bring to life classic 80’s videogame action hero Matt Hazard. Matt gets his chance to prove once and for all that he is the king of shooters when Wallace “Wally” Wellesley, new owner of mega game publisher Marathon Megasoft, voiced by Neil Patrick Harris, gives Matt his comeback role starring in a new next-gen title that pits him against all of his memorable foes from videogames past. In the world of Eat Lead, however, everything stops being a game and becomes reality when players discover through the original storyline brought to life by Arnett’s and Harris’ voiceover that someone is using the new game to bring about Matt’s death once and for all.

“Eat Lead parodies some of the most beloved genres of games and pop culture, so it was important that we find the perfect voice talent to bring both Matt Hazard and Wallace Wellesley to life,” said Pete Andrew, vice president of product development, North America, D3P. “Both Will and Neil are life long videogamers and their experiences playing games combined with their comedic genius and superb voice talent will make Eat Lead a must-have title for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION®3 system.”

What would a futuristic first-person shooter be without top-notch Hollywood voice talent? Why it would be High Voltage Software’s The Conduit for the Nintendo Wii, which dipped a few notches below top in their search to find the voice to match the characters in their upcoming game. Not that the actors they snagged aren’t talented and entertaining. Mark A. Sheppard, the voice of the game’s main character Mr. Ford, was Badger in Firefly for crying out loud. The man oozes quality. William Morgan Sheppard, the voice of John Adams, played Captain Witwicky in the Transformers movie and was the voice of Limburger in Biker Mice from Mars!

Then we have Kevin Sorbo and his magnificent hair. Kevin will be voicing the terrorist Prometheus. Kevin “Kull” Sorbo, playing a terrorist. Bold move, High Voltage.

THE CONDUIT GOES HOLLYWOOD

High Voltage Software announces the voice-actors appearing in The Conduit

Hoffman Estates, IL – October 14, 2008 – High Voltage Software, Inc., one of the world’s largest independent developers, today officially revealed the Hollywood voice-over cast of their exciting first-person action shooter, The Conduit.

Mark A. Sheppard stars as the voice of the main character, Mr. Ford. A British-born actor and musician, Sheppard’s TV credits include Battlestar Galactica, 24, Medium, Firefly, Burn Notice, CSI and The Bionic Woman. His film credits include Unstoppable, Evil Eyes, and In the Name of the Father.

“I think the story in this [The Conduit] is fantastic,” said Sheppard. “I think there’s a lot there for the player to enjoy.”

William Morgan Sheppard puts his incredible voice to the character of John Adams. William Morgan Sheppard spent 12 years as an Associate Artist with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His TV credits include Star Trek: The Next Generation, Babylon 5, and Kingdom Hospital. His film credits include Star Trek VI, The Prestige and Transformers. His video game credits include Medal of Honour, Metal Gear Solid 2, Escape from Monkey Island and Star Wars: Force Commander.

“It [The Conduit] has a resonance to it as a story;” said Morgan Sheppard. “It’s really quite exciting… and very well written.”

Last and definitely not least is Kevin Sorbo, who stars as the voice of the terrorist Prometheus. Sorbo is an American actor best known for the roles of Hercules in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Captain Dylan Hunt in Andromeda. His film credits include Kull the Conqueror, Avenging Angel, Prairie Fever, Meet the Spartans and An American Carol.

“It [The Conduit] looks like a riot,” said Sorbo, “I’m looking forward to it.”

The Conduit is tentatively scheduled for release in Q1 2009 exclusively for the Nintendo Wii.
###
