Head cheap-ass at Cheap arse Gamer and my breakfast friend CheapyD shelled out to appear in Saints Row 3. It wasn’t just because Cheapy loves Saints Row (he does), it was also for a good cause. More »
Kanye West’s “Power” plays a central, recurring role in Volition’s new open-world crime game Saints Row: The Third. The tune has been featured in the game’s exhaustive promotional materials, plays regularly on its in-game radio stations, and makes bookending appearances in the single-player campaign. Considering the song’s lyrics and the man who wrote them, Volition couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate theme song. More »

This week, I’ve been sharing some videos of Volition’s new (tremendously fun) open-world crime game Saints Row: The Third. On Monday, we saw how I start each day in Steelport, and yesterday I showed a cool refinement of its custom radio stations. More »

Aah, morning. Such a lovely time of day, when the world feels new and possibilities are endless. I usually start the day by having some coffee and reading the news. Irrational Interviews is by far my favourite gaming podcast. Studio head and creator of Bioshock Ken Levine brings in guests, typically creative people working in other mediums, and they discuss their own processes. This time Guillermo del Toro is on the show and it may be the best episode yet. Expanding on his work with Volition on the upcoming horror game Insane, Del Toro discussed his thoughts on game narrative which, according to him, has its “own f**king set of rules”! More »
I’m hard-pressed to think of a game that has a more ridiculous character-creation setup than Volition’s upcoming Saints Row: The Third. From street thugs to superheroes, it’s possible to create just about anything. For those who can’t wait for the game’s release in a couple weeks, players with an access code can access the character creator early and upload them to the game’s website to share with others. Ah Saints Row – is there anything you won’t attempt to parody? This time round the po-faced style utilised in trailers for Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3 is the target. Inside: a man in a pink cowboy hat pulling a rickshaw, a rabbit firing a rocket launcher, hoverbikes and a man getting hit in the testicles with a briefcase.
