It may sound like the title of a bad goth poem, but razorblades and roses are just two elements in Wal-Mart’s promotional blitz for Madden 10.
Cryptic has announced the preorder bonuses for their upcoming massively-multiplayer online superhero game Champions Online, with what you get depending on where you buy.
Wal-Mart has teamed up with kiosk company e-Play to test automated video game trade-in kiosks in several store locations throughout the Northeastern United States.
Hey, parents: if you’re buying a used games console for a small child, do the right thing and check it out first yourself. That way, you’ll avoid what happened to poor little Eliso Tovar.
Attention, Wal-Mart shoppers: the mega retailer is currently doing massive reductions on women’s self-esteem, moving the Wii Fit advertising kiosks from the electronics department to women’s clothing. A diabolical tactic!
Let’s. Find. Out. As part of a survey commissioned by IGN – dubbed “Are You Game?” – market research firm Ipsos MediaCT asked a whole bunch of American gamers where they shop when looking for games. The answers, while not shocking, are still interesting (the percentages flying waaay over 100% because, obviously, most people buy games from more than one store). Wal-Mart comes out on top, while Best Buy and GameStop/EB come in tied for second place. As for Blockbuster, well…thanks for trying.

From CNN.Money comes the news that ubiquitous retailer Wal-Mart has decided to go exclusively Blu-ray. According to a statement by Wal-Mart’s Senior Vice President of Home Entertainment Gary Severson,
“We’ve listened to our customers, who are showing a clear preference toward Blu-ray products and movies with their purchases.”
Wal-Mart will continue to sell HD-DVD products in the coming months, but expect to be Blu-ray exclusive soon with a heavy shift happening in the next thirty days. Add to that this week’s announcement of Netflix’s Blu-ray exclusivity and you’ve got what looks like an end in sight to the format wars.

Wal-Mart tries to make good with Super Smash Bros. Brawl fans who feel cheated. After listing the Wii brawler for pre-order at $US 19.82, then unsurprisingly cancelling those orders, the mega-retailer is apologising. Sort of. They’re giving out $US 10.gift cards good for online purchases at WalMart.com to those who tried to get Brawl on the cheap. Feel better? Yeah. Thought so. Thanks to everyone who let us know.
Wal-Mart cancels too-good-to-be-true Super Smash Bros. Brawl pre-orders. As many of you have noted via comment or e-mail to our tips mailbox, the massive retailer won’t make good on $US 19.62 pre-purchases of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii, with Wal-Mart sending cancellation notices via e-mail to cheap ass gamers. Those who attempted to capitalise on the pricing flub will get nothing and like it. Oh, I’m sure they’ll get SSBB eventually, they’ll just have to fork over fifty bucks.
