What’s that you say? Renowned comics (and arcade book foreword) writer Warren Ellis worked on Dead Space? Wow, that’s great! Oh…what’s that you say? He worked on it over two years ago and now there’s barely anything, if at all, of what he did left? Wow, that…sucks. Dead Space executive producer Glen Schofield:
Thought Dead Space sounded neat? The game sounds a whole lot neater. British author Warren Ellis (Transmetropolitan, Crooked Little Vein) has revealed in his mailing list that he’s done some work on the space survival horror title. Writes Ellis:
Oh, I got released from an NDA the other day, so I can finally say that I wrote a bunch of the groundwork, backstory and structure on the forthcoming EA videogame DEAD SPACE, which recently got a comic prequel from the hands of Antony Johnston and Ben Templesmith. I believe there was at least one other writer on the project, but I’m sure there’s some of me in there somewhere.
Very good! Dead Space just got that more interesting.
Thanks Austin for the tip!
Warren Ellis, salty-tongued screenwriter for the who-knows-when animated film based on Castlevania III, updated his production blog on the subject recently, indicating that things are moving along quite well. Very well, actually, as the folks at Konami didn’t seem to blush at the more mature themes of Ellis’ screenplay. Dialogue about the sexual violation of a goat? Cool. Lots of bad language? Just peachy, it seems. Ellis and company’s plans for “a film for adults” look like they’re shaping up.
Still, we’re a long way off from seeing Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse for ourselves, as Ellis points out.
Notes [Castlevania: Dracula's Curse]
The Castlevania: Dracula’s Curse production blog has been silent for the past month as animated film scribe Warren Ellis has been busying himself with Comic Con 07 appearances and, y’know, actual script writing.
Today, however, Ellis finally gives us a look at a portion of the screenplay’s first draft. While Trevor Belmont, the featured vampire hunter, is present but remains tight-lipped you’ll want to stick around for the goat fucking.
You read that right. Goat fucking. Looks like Warren isn’t looking to Captain N for his animated Belmont cues.
