UPDATE: Oz Wii Ware Game Pops Up, Now With Screenshots

Kotaku AU

Shortly after posting the original Pop story, we got in touch with Nnooo for more details and screenshots. Nic Watt, creative director on the game, replied with some happy snaps and the following info:

There is a sophisticated scoring system which includes not only chains, multipliers and power-ups [but]also a series of bonus rounds which are unlocked and played between stages.

Thanks Nic for the clarification. Nic also let me know that the game won’t launch until Wii Ware hits, which makes perfect sense. Unlike the “next week” from my original post. My bad.

UPDATE: Luke over at the mothership has his story up. He’s also fired off a Q&A to Nnooo, which we should hopefully see the answers to in short order.

Oz Wii Ware Game Pops Up

Kotaku AU

More PALGN scoops today, this time for a new Wii Ware title called Pop. According to PALGN, it’s being developed in Australia by newcomer Nnooo.

The description, from the official site (itself still under development):

Pop is designed to be enjoyed by all ages, either in single player or with up to three friends and allows people to steal points from opponents and use the controller to pump up the bubbles for bigger explosions. It is based around a simple concept which anyone can pick and play with layers of skill involved. Core gamers and those new to the Wiiâ„¢, or games in general, will all find it enjoyable.

Up to four players can compete in this bubble-exploding madness, and the controls are as simple as aiming at said suspicious-looking bubbles and pressing “A”. Repeatedly.

The site only has a release date of “soon”, which could mean next week or three months from now. Take your pick.

Kaplan Discusses US Wii Ware Launch

That downpour of Wii Ware news? Good news for Wii owners. Japanese ones at least, since they were the only ones that got details and a launch timeframe. No such luck for the US, while Europe and Australia… oh don’t make me laugh. But while North America didn’t get a firm date, Perrin Kaplan did tell Game|Life that they’re at least looking/hoping for a similar launch window: I think we’ll be looking at a somewhat similar time frame [to Japan] , but we haven’t announced anything yet.

She also goes on to say that while some of the Wii Ware titles announced at Nintendo’s Fall Conference were obviously Japan-only, many of them are “global” projects that should show up in the West.

Ping Pong For Wii Ware

Don’t need Rockstar’s Table Tennis for Wii. Played it on 360, enjoyed it, got rid of it. I’ve moved on. Need something new. Something like Arc System’s upcoming table tennis game Okiraku Ping Pong. Which I like the looks of! Firstly because it calls it ping pong. Secondly because that housewife character looks badass. Game’s due via Wii Ware in Japan in March. アークシステムワークスはWiiウェア向けに『おきらくピンポンWii(仮題)』を提供 [Famitsu]
